my initial review of the Rev Hard b-series intake manifold
I recently bought the "new" rev hard intake manifold for b16a/b18c. most of what i had read had lead me to believe it to be similar to the JG/edelbrock/bbk manifold, so i figured it was a proven design and for the most part, a safe buy.
i wasn't at home when the package arrived, so i was excited all week and couldn't wait to open the box when i got home. too bad the package turned out to be pandora's box....
first impression: it basically looks like a JG manifold. it has a big plenum with short, fat runners, but thats were the similarities stop. i take the manifold out of the box and immediatly start to notice imperfections in the manifold. first i notice that the rev hard logo is way off center. after that i start to check out some of the finishing work which appears to have been done by a 8 year old sweatshop worker with a dremel.
-there's little nicks, dings and rub marks all over the manifold.
-part of the throttle body flange was welded on and then machined down. i've never owned a JG manifold, but no other aftermarket or factory manifold that i've had looks like this
-the openings of the intake ports are kinda jacked up from casting marks and a poor attempt to fix them
-metal shavings are in just about every little hole they could possibly be in.
-there is some kind of rock hard foam **** in the #4 intake runner, i guess its something left over from the casting process, i really dont know.
and the pictures....

also, there is a hold on the opposite end of the intake manifold that usually has a freeze plug type deal in it. i dont know what it's for, but this one has a threaded plug instead; oh, and of course the threads are jacked up on that, so it only goes in a couple threads.
i will be sending this piece of crap back shortly, so if anyone wants more pictures, let me know. feel free to ask any questions you like. also i should mention this was not bought directly through rev hard.
cliff notes: big piece of ****

i should mention this was not bought through rev hard directly, and i actually had a very good transaction with the company i bought it through. i made this post right after i looked at the manifold, so haven't not contacted them yet. hopefully they'll come through when i give them a call tomorrow morning.

X2!
i think the BBK is very close to the JG

I actualy bought a JG manifold from Rev Hard,They used my JG manifold to make there Rev Hard design(a replication) He showed me the protype and I compared them in there shop.... The JG manifold actualy weights less and does have way less imperfections then Th JG manifold,I actualy pointed this out to them and he replied "this is just the ProtoType We're stilll working out the kinks'.... He also said there manifold is universal for B18C motors and B16? I guess that was his selling point.... It looked like crap when I saw it in the store, and doesnt look any better from your pics....
I would sell it and By a JG manifold with the money
Or call and try to get a refund from the Shop you bought it from
Either ways SELL IT,lol..... Good luck.....

looks kinda used because the machined surfaces look like they have scratches from being used......kinda shitty casting on the inside though...my JG looks 131453413 times better
That looks just like the SSautochrome intake manifold i had.Same rough casting etc and I think they are probably the smae manifold just rebadged.
i had a revhard intake manifold before, and in comparison to yours, it wasn't that bad at all. it had a few small casting imperfections, left over shavings in a few places, but it wasn't that bad. But i guess, not all of them are the same. sucks that yours is like that, hope you can get a refund on it.
Mine didn't look that bad either.Casting wasn't the best but it turned out alright I think.Just clean up inside the ports a little and polish it. Larger runners,B16/18 compatable and almost $100 cheaper than a JG

the "foam stuff"isnt foam its sand thats mixed with an epoxy, thats how they form cavities when its made, usually allof it is shaken/punched out but i guess you got a screwed up one, i would defiantly get a new one and or complain
wtf?! damn Jake, i hope that RH will hook you up with some kinda refund/exchange for a better manifold. it really doesnt look used to me, just a lil banged up from going station to station in a "production line" or somethin..
good luck bro, keep h-t posted on customer service of RH.

The bBK intake manifold actually really nice...the titanium gunmetal paint on the finish is sweet...the tb opening actually a 70mm i believe...i purchased a BBK intake manifold for my Type R head but got a GSR flange pattern so i just sold it to my friend and brought a JG from Summitracing.com came in real quick...didn't have time to exchange the BBK...both intake manifold looked really appealing to me i think the plenum opening on the bbk was actually bigger too but i still retained the stock Type R throttle body so i think going with the JG was better choice for me.............But definately send that RH manifold back...the machine work was horrible
