Default CRVTEC question

Hey everyone, whats up? I not new building motors or anything, I'm just about to enter a realm I haven't yet, the good ol' b20vtec. I've been reading a lot about them and was wondering, if this is a good reliable setup that can take daily revs to about 6500-7000rpm and the ocassional run up to 8200-8300rpm? Fully balance and mirco polished crankshaft, all factory honda bearings, factory honda piston rings, type r oil pump, gsr timing belt, gsr water pump, shot peened rods. If it matters(which I think it wont) there will be a stock b16 head on it. Thanks for any feedback but please dont post about how weak b20s are because I hear it enough and I know they can handle the pressure of all motor.

well I'm also interested in this.

perosnaly I'm thinking of swaping a b20 in my car sometime this summer. From what I found out about b20s, it seems that you may run into some problems if you have a vtec head and a stock block. A stock block would crack after a number of high revs (which is the best deal with a vtec head). I'm not 100% sure of this, its just some feedback that I got about the b20s.

can someone please clear this up for me.

i think that the reliabilty real depends on the builder, and well im sure that it can take the ocassional run up too 8k, eugene just built a daily with 244hp

the builder is a huge part in reliability, so is tuning. but from my experience with some one that i know, you can only rev those bottom end to about 7k. the more you hit 8k the shorter the life. i believe that the only way for the b20 to do well is if its built. then they are amazing

my handles pretty well I take it to 7500 every once in a while but just make sure you get a block girdle on it and some good head bolts it cuts back on some of the vibrations.

and good luck with your build
Im very happy with the performance on mine.

stock pistons?

dont forget they have small valve reliefs and a dish design.... if you have the pistons worked a bit to widen the relifefs and take the block down a bit its ok but otherwise look into better pistons.
