yep.
Anywhere where liquid is present - a gasket is needed to prevent the liquid from leaking.

do i need to worry about it ripping or is it durable?

i know it would be easier to take it off and polish it, but would it be better to jsut do it on the engine?

the gasket for the valve cover is loose

you might want to change it (honda sells a kit that replaces that and grommets for spark plugs too)

you don't need to hondabond the valve cover, there is not point

I've taken my VC off a few times and reused my gasket. It's just a rubber material that fits into a groove on your valve cover. Chances are that it will come off with your VC as mine did. As long as it looks in good shape and still flexible I wouldn't worry about it. If it's hard and looks nasty I say replace it. Cant be that expensive.

the VC gasket is made of a very durable rubber. i have reused mine like 5 times, and i've had the same gasket for about 2 years now (since i bought the car). hondabond is not necessary, but it helps around the cam caps. you can remove the VC and reuse the gasket, just don't be stepping on it and throwing it around and it will be reusable.

go to honda and get a new VC gasket and some hondabond......then take your VC off and do your work and put the gasket on and seal it up with the hondabond....bolt it back down

seriously take it off to do it, don't be half assed. also make sure you clean it VERY well both sides before reinstalling it. god help you if any foreign matter gets in your valvetrain or oil supply.

there are supposed to be washers under all the nuts that go on the top of the valvecover correct? I took mine off to get it painted and I think I lost one, haha. Anyone have a picture of a H22 valvecover from the top?
