Default Power Steering Sensor

I'm almost through swapping my b20 into my 98 ex coupe and the last sensor I have to plug in is the power steering speed sensor. I can't find the plug that snaps into the plug on the power steering line. I thought it was on the harness but apparently it isn't. Is that sensor necessary to run the motor WITH power steering? If it is, where will the sensor be at on the b20 so I can plug it into the power steering line? Thanks guys.

no, I just can't seem to locate the plug on the harness that plugs into the female side on the power steering line. I thought it was on the harness but I can't see it. Everything else is plugged up. Am I just missing it or something? I haven't really been able to go over it thoroughly because the cars at my parents house but I will thursday.

Also, theres a 4 female plug on the injector section of my harness that I'm not sure about what plugged into a little black sensor that was mounted to my fuel rail on the d16y8. anybody know what that is and if I need that on my b20 because its missing on the b20 fuel rail. thanks guys.

As I searched for the sensor to plug into the power steering pressure switch plug, I remembered that my motor is jdm and only the usdm motors came with the power steering pressure switch plug (according to the Haynes Manual). My question is how is this going to affect my power steering? I'm using an obd1 p75 ecu if that helps. I just want my power steering to function correctly.

It's an idiot switch. If you're not an idiot, and you can handle maintaining your PS fluid level, then you don't need it.

INCORRECT. the switch senses movement in the steering, and bumps the idle up accordingly so the motor does not stall under increased drag of the p/s pump.

you do not need the switch hooked up for either the p/s to work or the motor to function. just be warned that at idle, you may have to give it a little throttle when you turn the wheel, otherwise the motor might dip low and stall.

what engine harness did you use?

Very well stated, and all above information is correct.

well as far as I can tell from the Haynes manual is that the power steering pressure switch connects on the block near the crank fluctuation sensor. I've looked for it and I just can't find the sensor that they're talking about. The sensor isn't part of the harness and I can find it on the block. Several other people helped pull the old motor so I'm guessing that one of them set it down somewhere in the dark abyss that is my parent's garage and I just haven't found it yet.

PS. If I can't find this sensor, will a light weight power steering pulley reduce the drag enough to prevent the engine from stalling?
