Default Ticking only in cold weather, even with warm motor.

My engine seems to make an odd ticking noise that's speed dependant when the weather is cold. Typically night time or colder days. This is even when the motor is warm. However, when the weather is nice and warm outside or if I drive during the day there is no ticking.

The valve lash was set properly, so the motor does not need a valve adjustment. Any input?

My friend's GSR did the same thing. He had new valves, valve springs, and retainers installed, and it went away. Hope that helps.

What do you mean he had? He replaced his valves, springs and retainers?

That's right. He installed a Supertech valvetrain and the noise went away.

What weight of oil are you using? Running a really thin oil in cold temperatures could be your problem. Switch to a thicker oil and see if it fixes your problem.
