Default help... auto tranny troubles

96 accord, the tranny went out and the guy bought another from a 94 accord. put the tranny in and works fine except for downshifting (as in it wont downshift at all). when its in d4 the light flashes. is this something caused by the yr of the tranny, or an installation problem. the kickdown is adjusted correctly.

You really need to get the trans code, either scan tool or jumper the blue 2 pin connector for a flash code; it sounds like the TC lock up solenoid is bad. If you still have the old trans core, swap out the external solenoids; clear the codes and try again

oh yea, we changed all the visible solenoids too, this is all new to me im used to working on my obd-0 manual cars.

How do you clear the codes on this? i know on my car you remove the hazard fuse.

also, would not resetting the ecu after switching the solenoids cause it to continue even after it was fixed?

I'm assuming you had to pull the battery to remove the old tranny, in which case, you already effectively reset the ecu.
