clutch install not sitting right whats the deal??
i got my clutch today an was installing it but i got a question shouldnt the presure plate sit flush with the flywheel? cuz i put the disc in and put the presure plate on and torqued down the 6 bolts to the pressure plate and theres about an 8th of an inch gap between the pressure plate and the flywheel like if the disc is too thick or something is this normal? thanx
sounds like maybe you got the disk on backwards.
there is a certain amount of preload on the pressure plate but it shouldnt take more than the torque specs to get it tight on the flywheel.

There are some dowel pins on the flywheel. Make sure the dowel pins seat fully into the holes of the pressure plate. Also, did you torque the bolts in an alternating, cross pattern?
i did not tourque them down yet they are on hand tight so when i torque them down it should sit flush with the flywheel or should it sit flush when i put it on? if i just put it on it sits on half of the dowel pins so if i torque it down it will push the pressure plate in and sit fully on the dowel pins is that correct or is there something wrong?
i thought mabey i was putting the disc on the wrong way so i called autozone and they said that its pretty idiot proof cuz it will only fit one way if i was to turn the disc the other way the pressure plate wouldnt even touch the fly wheel. another question they also said that i needed to replace the pilot bearing and there isnt one in my flywheel there was only a metal ring that i poped out and autozone and checker and all the auto places around say that they dont have a listing for a pilot bearing what goes there? where to get it from.

Well if the gap is there before you torque them down then youre fine. Tighten them down evenly. Remember that the clutch disc is normally engaged until the pedal is pressed down, so the pressure plate acts like a big spring... meaning youll be compressing that spring when youre tightening the bolts.
Not having that bushing will make it harder to line up the disc right. Maybe you can get it from honda?
