Possible Accord Purchase... any thoughts?
Okay, so my wife's Jetta is giving her some major headaches (my gti has been great). She's given me a new mission to find her a reliable car, and I tend not to argue with her since she's pregnant. What are your thoughts on this: New Accord EX V6 w/ leather and nav.
Anything I need to be looking out for?
Any issues with them? I've read a few threads about the 05 V6's having some issues... have they been resolved for the 06's?
TIA!

I have an 03 V6 sedan. They had a recall on the auto trans, but I'm sure the 06's have the fix before they even leave the factory. I've had no transmission problems. The dealer has changed the fuel pressure regulator twice because of long cranking time. Another thing I have heard about is the head unit lights (radio, climate control) going out and having to get the whole unit changed for mega $$$$. I think most of them have been changed for no-or little cost, even if the warranty had expired. My radio lights have not gone out. I also had a 4th generation Accord for 12 years, and still miss it. I didn't get the nav. I did get the leather seats (heated) and they are very comfortable. Other than the fuel pressure reg. I have had no problems, and love my Accord. Happy Hondaing

NO. I got the extended warranty for the 4th gen. and never used it once. Consumer Reports take on the subject is (i agree) that you shouldn't want to buy a car that "needs" an extended warranty (unreliable). High priced insurance, IMO.
the only issues ive heard of with the 7th gen accord all occured in the first two years of the model's run, 03-04. There were issues with the front brake pads wearing out faster than expected (since fixed), and a few minor electircal issues, as blkflsh presented. i hadn't heard about the FPR thing, but hey, the car is a 10 best once again.
the sedan was restyled (again) for 06, and frankly that v6 is pretty peppy (the whol J-series honda motors are very good performers).
there was an issue with the 6th gen accords auto transmission, especially on the v6, but to my knowldege, that has since been resolved with the new v6 in the 7th gens.

Thanks for the great info! Any ideas on pricing? She wants an automatic, so the best price I've been quoted from the net was $26,600 + Tax (CA @ 7.75%) and License. Can we get this car for say $27k out the door, or is that totally unreasonable?
I still haven't driven the car, but I sat in the passenger seat while my wife stomped on it on the freeway and it was quick. She drove the 4 cyl and coming from her VR6 Jetta, the four is too wimpy for her.
