Default Noob-e post. Replacement axles

Hello all. New to the forum here. And for my first post, I need some advice. My bone stock 95 Civic EX needs CVs. Long story short, I don't want to pay what the dealer wants to fix em. I have heard nightmare stories about aftermarket axles. So I decided to seek expert advice. Is there a brand of replacements that are economical (relatively speaking, they don't have to be "free") but will perform like originals. I don't race it or really even run it hard (a little sporting here and there but NOTHING heavy duty)

Unfortunately I can't offer up a whole lot of knowledge outside of the general automotive variety where Honda is concerned. I have owned this vehicle for 10 years and have not modded it in any way, so I've never really learned all the ins and outs of it. But if you ever want to know anything about a classic Beetle... that's my hobby. However, seeing as the Honda only has 90K on her, I have really been kicking the idea of some appearance and lite performance stuff the (usual tire susp. thing) Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks in advance for the advice and input.

Go to AutoZone...Give them your busted axles...They give you new ones for very cheap. But yes changing axles is a pain in the ***.

Yea go to a local parts store like Autozone and give em your old axle for a core. Theyre pretty cheap an work really well for driving and slight abuse.

Thanks for the quick replies. I started to do just that but then I heard a couple of bad experiences with that approach. Difference is that none of them were Hondas. My brother put a set (local A/P store, don't know brand) in his wifes Toyota so they could sell it, and when it was all said and done, the car had a vibration in it. Didn't matter to him cause they were getting rid of it but he seemed to think it was the new axles. Since I kind of plan on having this car for a while, I figured I needed to find out from someone who has done this on a Honda and see what kind of results they had. Thanks a lot!

I do have one question though, is there a brand to ask them for (I'm assuming they are rebuilt) or are they all about the same?

Hey man, I'm from the Winchester area too. Go to Fisher to get some reman. axles for the civic. We put a set in my friend's hatch and still have not had a problem with them. Fisher is be located right beside Battery Mart and across the street from Pro Audio. If you have any other questions about this, just ask.
