I cant seem to get it back on tight. I repacked the boot awhile ago, and its obviously been leaking but I cant seem to get the band as tight as it was originally.

Yeah there's special pliars for that:

But we've used regular ones or was it a wire cutter, I don't remember. But Rodney has every special friggen tool made and just about everything is Snap-On

the ghetto version of the tool is like $15 at autozone... or they rent them free. using pliers/vise grips/etc is just not worth the trouble for the hack job that is the result. shrug...

And it's a pain in the *** as compared to using the correct tool. But Yes I am guilty of hacking and using pliars/wire cutters in the past.

Repacking, IMO, is a waste of money. Just get an axle from Autozone (lifetime warranty. I didn't like the reviews of reman. axles, so I got a new one. $99).

But people have had good luck with repacking, so hope it goes well. I believe Checkers also rents that tool out for free.

By no means is this the right way to do it but, on my GSR I cut the metal band to size and secured it tighly in place with two zip ties. It's be holding for 2 years without any leaks so far(knock on wood).

Yeah it's ghetto but I didn't have the banding tool and was tired so I said fugg it.

Cheapest, easiest way is to replace it with the correct sized hose clamp (like the one used on the intake arm)
