Default Balljoint Boot Replacement.

I ripped the balljoint boot on the LCA a couple of months ago. I now have a replacement boot and cup and am wondering of any tips for this. I can succesfully pop the balljoint out and get to it, my main concern is

what grease to use?
any tips for getting that stupid clip back on?

Thanks

The clip goes back on pretty easily. If you put a little grease on the outside of the boot, the clip will slide easily down into it's groove.

Any suspension grease will work fine for inside the balljoint. Since the boot seals in the grease, you don't have to worry about it washing away. Just ask parts store guy, what's the best grease for balljoints that they have...

yeah its a really easy job as long as you know how to pop off the balljoint.

any grease will do.

just finished doing it. Took a lot longer then i wanted but it was my own fault. I spent like an hour trying to pop the balljoint out only to realize i must have got it on the first couple of tries. And that clip was a bitch for me to get on. I got it but it took a lot of finess (sp?). The parts guy recomended some premium mobil semi synthetic grease that said it was for cv joints-wheel bearings-chassis-and some other stuff. hopefully its ok.

You can reuse your old clip if you don't bend it during removal.

yea i know. I got an extra one because i knew if i messed it up half way through the process i would have to order it and that would take like 3 days of driving with out it. It was cheap enough. Also it helped because i practiced with one on how to get it on then used the new one bc i bent the old one all up.

Got it from the dealer! Employee discount yield a price of just over $1.00.

Looks good so far... I'll check it again when I rotate my tires for autocross this Sunday!

Never knew you could just buy the boot! Saved me money! Now that's MONEY!
