Default quick question about car maybe running to rich please help!!!

Ok well i went to get my car smogged. 89 civic hatch Si with a SOHC ZC... well i have my fuel pres. turned to 44psi and had intake headers, and uderdrive pully and timing was stock... well i just got a pre test and it passed with flying colors.. so then i went about a week later with my car all stock and got it tested and failed for high HC and CO.. well i think its because i took off my fuel regulator... im thinking that my car might be running to rich right now so if i turn my fuel pres. back to 44 instead of the stock 34 i belive do u think i should pass>?

i was just wondering does turning your fuel pres. up make ur car run richer or leaner>? please HELP!!!

ya its wierd because high CO means its not buring all the fuel... and when my pressure was turned up it passed then when i turned it back down it failed... well i just threw my regulator back on and turned the pres. back up and im a just get a pre test done on it tom. so ill post my results

Here is a little info..

You are looking at a lean misfire. Less pressure equals less gas.
When your car misfires that raises the CO because of incomplete combustion. It will also raise the HC's too.

For a ZC I show a fuel pressure of 40 - 47 psi for a 1590cc w/inj 1992 - 95
For a 1996 - 00 the f pressure should be 38 - 46 psi

I would think that is it, fuel pressure...
