Default Black smoke out the exhaust ?

Last night a friend was behind me and anyway i decided to open it up alittle bit. I hit vtec through 2nd and 3rd. I was told when i hit vtec a big *** cloud of black smoke came out. One of the people in the car behind me who goes to auto tech school said this is bad. It wasnt a blue smoke it was black. Im running stock cat with dc header and tanabe exhaust. No cels. Ive seen this on other ludes, isnt it just that they run rich from the factory?

Yuup it's normal. Preludes tend to run rich and when you redline them black soot will sometimes shoot out the exhaust.
