Default APEX-i VTEC Controller for 5th generation information please!

I have a 97 prelude SH with an Tanabe catback and AEM CAI would a APEX-i vtec controller be a good mod. What are there limitations and are they user friendly. Also what does the install require. I dont know much about them and would like any info that you guys could tell me. Which model would i need also?? Does changing the factory specs with this controller hurt the engine? Thanks for the info

i have a VAFC on my base 5th gen. i have a short ram intake, header, and i used to have a cat-back exhaust. install is really easy if you're good with electronics, all you do is splice wires into your ECU. if you're not comfortable with cutting ECU wires, then you can have it done professionally or you can buy a wire harness that is plug-n-play. as far as tuning goes, it is user friendly, but does require a dyno and someone that knows what they're doing. and if you're spending that kind of money you should just go with hondata or crome, which IMO have a wider range of tuning options.

edit: forgot you said you have an SH. hondata and crom will make you switch to a different ECU from an integra or civic. also you will have to get an OBD1 ecu, which will cause you to fail emissions. VAFC may be your best bet. not to mentoin that i think you will lose your ATTS with those ECUs.

read it and make your own conclusions. to me it is worth the money, but what are your future goals? Turbo? cause it would be a waste of money.

^ I agree. The Vafc is a good start. Looking long term, if you plan to heavily modify your car you should look at Hondata or Neptune or even Crome. If you decide to go with a Vafc, Marcucci Motorsports sells the wire harness.

I was wanting a vfac, I have all the bolt-ons but am going to get cams in the future. Is it still worth it or do i need something more advanced to tune everything when I get new cams?

if money isnt a issue i recomend a diffferent approach P72+any hondata setup or p28 (still got the secondaries issue or if u could get it wired for it). thats if cams (it will be your only mod), but if u planing in FI a standalone system is the best way to go.
