There was a big thread on this a while ago right after the race went down, lots of whining and H-T ****-talking, then I think it got locked.

 

there was a lot of whining on the show too not from the driver particularly, but from his cheerleaders....lol but if it were my friend's car on the line, I'd probably be whining too...

 

Yeah, I really didn't like the kid with the Civic, I was happy to see the T/A win. I know some of the guys who were there with the T/A too, and they are good guys. I think the kid with the Civic just brought a knife to a gunfight. Any time you are asking for and getting 20 cars, you're way out of your league.

 

My jaw dropped when they showed the 20 lengths.........LOL Good stuff But on a serious note, the drivers don't know what they are up against until the day of the race. So it wasn't that they were unprepared, they were unmatched by the show.

 

i was appauled by that kid he was stupid. what i would like to know is why didn't he have on his slicks from the beginig?

 

I talked to Jeff (the negotiator for the T/A team) about it, he told Pinks he'd be bringing a car worth $30K that ran 10's. He was under the impression that the kid with the Civic told Pinks his car was worth $30K and ran 10's also. He was really sweating losing a really nice T/A to a Civic that probably wouldn't sell for $10K. I think either the kid overstated the value and capabilities of his Civic or Pinks made a really poor matchup just so they could get an "Import -vs- Domestic" show.

I wondered the exact same thing..especially running against a RWD Torque monster already on slicks.

Anywhoo..this picture made me chuckle hardcore!


Again, I don't think the driver of the civic was that bad, it was his cheerleaders that made it look bad. Atleast the TA guys sold him back the car for cheap.

 

Poor kid.....it seemed as though he had a plan to start with, but he should have asked for @ least 6 cars on the last run.

Only 20 and he lost his ride, bet it was his dd to.

Exact same thing i was thinking. He brings them out after he loses twice . Lets see FWD car on street tires vs a RWD turbo nitrous V8 on slicks. who's going to win? He was pretty much giving his car away on the last race. i would have asked for atleast 5.

How much was the car sold back to him for?

 

Im going to clear this up right now. He never staed that the car was worth 30k. If you volunteered to race on pinks versus an EVENLY matched car and when you get there, you get set up racing a gutted out COMPLETELY BUILT 97 WS6 thats equiped with a vortech supercharger, 150 shot of nitrous, alcohol injection, an aftermarket rear end, a th400 3 speed automatic transmission, and so much other **** I dont feel like putting on here, you would look pretty bad to. That car was an EASY 9.50 car. The top Turbo Street cars and drivers would have had a very difficult time beating this car. It was an unfair match up to begin with. I can tell you that the red coupe was an 10 second car. The drag radial move was ill advised, but that his his decision. If he had left the slicks on for all the races, it would have been a little closer.

My dad was giving me the play by play as I was on the road and he is a muscle car kinda guy, so he was givin me **** of course.

When my dad said "he's puttin slicks on now", I was like "WTF!! You mean he was runnin w/o them!" Not smart @ all.

 

i was pulling my hair out because the car was well equiped to compete hardcore. That driver was awful, drag radials OR slicks.

 

why don't they show the trap speed/times

The T/A runs pretty consistent 10.3's on the bottle and has never run in the 9's. If I remember right, the Civic dyno'd in the mid-500's, pretty sure it never hit 600.

They don't use the timing equipment for the show, just to make it more "real" and appeal to the hardcore street ricers. Personally I think it's retarded, especially after I saw a Mustang on there forfeit a run because he pre-loaded his suspension. They have the gear there, but if they used it then the tool of a host wouldn't get to pose as much. It's still a fun show, but some of the stuff just makes me cringe.

Sounded like the car dynod 400 and when the T/A camp got it made 500hp when those 2 Import racer brothers got a hold of it, both XBOx Import Champions.

 

that was an embarrassment for for turbo hondas, not about him losing but all his demands and he still lost, he should have raced with slicks and race heads up. the driver also needed some skills, but I would have probabley done worst, the only thing I am mad about his that he ask for all this, got it and still lost.

 

Plus it looked like his boost controller line was broken and it was only making 15 PSI off of the wastegate spring, but they didn't notice it until after the 2nd race? I've run a turbo Honda in the 1/4 and I'd notice before I got out of 3rd gear if it was only making 15 PSI (used to run 23 PSI on a B16). That just doesn't make any sense. I think they had just slapped the car together though and the driver wasn't very familiar with it, where the T/A driver had been running his car for a while.

20 year old stereo installer vs 36 year old engineer, no question who had the better car. The kid had no idea how to drive, I bet the guy in the TA had hundreds if not thousands of passes under his belt.

 

If you're on Pinks and you lose do you get anything? I mean it almost seems like they would have to pay you something to put you on TV....
