I mean, when you hold the trottle, your writ is up instead of being down. Like twisting the trottle, your wrist go down.

Yea. I guess I am going to stick with my answer of A too. man, MSF in VA is sooo nice for take home exam...although it is sooo easy. except for that question. I choose A anyway, but I just wanted to make sure.
Does MSF in other states give take home exam?

That's somewhat disappointing that it's a take home test now..... which pretty much means open book. Last I checked, the MSF doesn't like you reading while riding so for the test you should at least be able to demonstrate you actually learned something instead of finding it in a book. Congrats on passing though!
Lets be honest though - mine was take home, and I did not use the book - because there was no need to. It was designed like a test for 4th graders - one, maybe two right answers, then the other choices are out in left field. There was only one question that I missed - and that was because I got the MSF values confused with the DMV values (It was a question on following distance - both agencies have a different number) On my course eval, I wrote that they definitely need to make a harder written test. As is, it is pretty much worthless. Which is sad, because the actual textbook has good information in it.
There were a couple folks that failed the riding test (I was out at Lord Fairfax CC - Harley town. Most folks didn't use the front brake at all, and when they tried to, they went down hard) but everyone got a 90% or above on the test - perhaps it has gotten easier in the past year or so?
One chick... who ironically was very girlie girl but in a trashy way by flirting with the older men... went down in her test and actually kept the throttle open so the bike was lying on her with the rear wheel racing out of control. I laughed.
FWIW, I took the course in 2001.

the one with the perfect riding score was probably an employee at the local shop where the instructor gets discounts
you should see all the shady stuff that goes on

The written test was definately EASY. I did the practice on the MSF website and got them all correct, then went over then and made sure I got them all incorrect so that I could read the explanation of each ( a bit over the top I know. lol). I had passed the written test at the DMV my first attempt, so I pretty much knew all the answers to the test before. They are mostly common sense. On top of that, the classroom portion of the class comprise of going over the questions in the book that are written in bold, and 90% of the test questions are from those, so we basically went over most of the test in class.
The riding portion of the test was alright. The instructors gave good instructions. The class had problems with 2 of the female riders however. The rode SOOOOO SLOW!!! I was jut biting my lips not to curse them out. We were doing braking and cornering lean. The way how they were going slow, I didnt even turn the trottle to coast the entire way behind them, and around corner, where we were supposed to lean, I was just coasting around in 2nd gear being upright because i am not going any speed enough to lean.
I was happy the second day when we didnt have to do group rides any more.
I swore that she would fail. In the brake test, she accelerated up to probably 7 MPH, and she brake and stopped at about the 4 mark on the ground. (The markings start from 5 to 25). Then in the figure 8 turn, she put her foot down on the first turn, then she walked with her motorcycle to the second turn and put-put around. Then she accelerated up to about 9MPH to do the swerve. I doubt she ever went over 12 MPH the entire circuit.
I was SOOOO surprised when everyone passed.
WHen we were practicing the braking in a corner. I was second in line. The guy in front of me took off and accelerated to the corner. Next thing I see, he just land flat on his side lowside with the bike untop of him. I was a bit shaken up for a second. everyone just stood there wow, thats what we are supposed to do? lol. He recovered and everything was fine though.
SO, that was my weekend at the MSF class. Good practicing in the parking lot, more than on the street when life and death come into play if we do anything wrong.
