Default Some pics of My D Series Top Mount Manifold *********56K Beware !

Well since my ssauto **** manifold has been retired due to non-stop cracking around the wastegate & collector, it was time for a new manifold.
I had this idea and I used that top half of D16Z6 Exhaust manifold to make a top mount and made a 2-1 collector. I am still unsure if this will flow ok or not, looks like it should, but if it doesn't oh well.

I got the Downpipe fabbed up and still need to finish the lower charge pipe & mount wastegate.

I am still getting used to welding so my welds dont look the best...lol

Here are some pics

thoughts ? or

That is some awesome home made manifold action.I opened this expecting a full race style manifold but I think i am more impressed by this.

Very creative use of stock parts! You should fab several up with good welds and see if people are interested.

thanks for the feedback!

Yeah this mani has HMT written all over it, I dont even think I have a heatshield for it so It will probly get heat wrapped, and this mani cost me less than $40 bucks to make (I already had the exhaust mani already)

hopefully it flows good I should have it all back together tommorrow

Simply awesome The welding could be better, but it's all about using what you have available at home/shop

The idea of using the stock manifold and fabbing an extension piece is unbeatable. Imagine using a nice CNC flange and nice TIG welding... Voila, mass produced "sub $200" topmounts...rofl

I used what I had laying around, the weld elbows are 1.5" 1.4 ID sch 40 (1/8" thick) and the collector is just 1.5" exhaust piping.

Thats awesome. Regardless of performance, you get a for creativity. Maybe you could brace the turbo using the holes for the heatshield. Dont know if that would do more harm then good though.
