JDM Type S
Ok, did a search but can't find anything. I just sold one of my friends a base 2000 Prelude. While deciding what direction to take it in I mentioned the Type S to him. I realize that this is (correct me if I'm wrong) mainly different cams, pistons, rods, header. Is that right? Does anyone know what kind of gains to expect? Has anyone tried out just the cams or header?
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to crack the motor open for 10-20 hp difference. Also, does anyone know the compression ratio difference?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You should be able to get 10-20 hp out of a US spec engine with just bolt-ons (Cold Air Intake, Header, Exhaust, Pullies, V-AFC). So IMHO, it's not worth it to open up the motor if your goal is to equal the output of the TypeS...
I gained 12hp at the wheels with just a header and cat-back exhaust...

If your friend has a base, he would be better served to try to buy a JDM S-spec engine/tranny. 220PS (same as type S) w/ the added bonus of a factory LSD. No ATTS unit to worry about.
