Default boring out a d16y8 1.6L into a 1.8L

how do you bore out/stroke a civic 98 d16y8 1.6 liter into a 1.8 liter? i dont understand how u can get more torque?....explanation? how much and what parts to get?.....THANKS!

resleeve the block, about $800 + $600 for the pistons

r and d makes a stroker kit for the d-series no sleeving needed. they were the ones that did bisi's crx motor. u can find info on them if u do a search i can't remember but last summer i called them and i know the info is somewhere on this board or u can just get the back issue of scc they have a whole article on the motor from bisi's crx don't remember which month but it was last year.

Explanation Simple: More volume size = more air and more fuel = more energy to use = more power.

Remember Torque and Horsepower are the same thing only measured differently.

Horsepower = Torque X RPM / 5252.

fyi, i have a d16z6 which is similar to your motor except i think you make 2 hp more. i bored out my block to a 1.8L but the power gains were not all that great. it is hardly noticable.

really?....so what's up with ppls d16y8 180hp all motor. I think that is pretty impressive and then after the turbo goes in. WOW. SOHC being that strong. I dunno, what do u ppls suggest? also, after doing this, how is it that it is then presumed to be a 1.8L? becuz of the size diff?

180 hp all motor D series are short live drag race motors. They might see 1000 miles before each rebuild.
