Getting back into Honda....need some DA guys.
I'm just a bit excited, after a long hiatus (my car was stolen, I moved on to other things), it looks like I will once again be a proud Honda owner. I have started shopping for a 90-93 Integra, and was hoping maybe some of you DA heads on here could give me some pointers. Any intimate information on the DA that might be helpful while I'm shopping around for these things?
I just drove one today, an LS with 105k, ran pretty well, but the body was pretty rough.
Anyhow, thats all, and if you happen to be selling one in the Chicago area I'd appreciate the heads up too.
I'll stop rambling now....it's been a long time since I posted here.

just go over the basics like you would when buying any "new" used car...have it looked at if you don't know what to look for (is you are like myself
) have the normal compression tests and all that good stuff done.

Yeah, that goes without saying. Just seeing if I could find out any quirks that might be unique to these cars, some "insider info"
Main fuel relays happen to fail on DA's pretty often at higher miles. There's not much you can really do to check it, short of pulling it out and getting a magnifying glass out for some inspection (the solder cracks and the electrical connections consequently fail), but it's something to keep in mind.
Ask for maintainance records. Make sure the timing belt's been changed (any DA you find should have passed the 60k mark), fuel filter, plugs, regular oil changes, etc etc.
If you intend on doing any serious modifications, keep the model year in mind. 90-91 were OBD0/non-OBD, 92-93's were OBD-1. IMO OBD-1 has more tuning options (Uberdata, Hondata, etc.) but that's not to say that you're without options if you go OBD0.
If you can find a 92-93 GSR for sale at all (odds are slim of finding one anywhere), you should take it for a test drive. It'll be a little quicker than any other LS/GS/RS you find.
God damn I miss my DA <3

Thanks for the tips psychotic. I definitely have not seen a GSR for sale at all. I would jump at the chance to look at one if I did. As for modifying, its not really in the plans right now, I just need a cheap and reliable ride for the next year or so. However, down the road...I know I'll get the itch.

Since you already had one car stolen, I would think a DA, either the LS, RS, or GS would be better, then swap in a B18C1 or build a LSVTEC and still have a sleeper with lower insurance and less attractive to theives.
Make sure to buy a 5-speed whatever you do.
I have a 92 RS, with the original B18A with 290K miles. I have been collecting performance parts for a rebuild scheduled at 300K miles. The engine still runs fine, I just want to build for power and 300K miles sounds cool.
But lately, I can't make up my mind: build B18A and swap in a short geared tranny, or buy a JDM B16A with short geared tranny with low miles and swap it in. or take the B16A head and make an LSVTEC and use the short geared tranny, or buy a B20 and use the Crower 404's with it, dangit, I am trying to give you ideas and I can't make up my own mind. Good luck joining the DA squad, and be warned, every ricer in town will be revving up on you where ever you go, I hate it.

Awesome, thanks guys. I had seen somewhere on the board, someone mentioned an upper radiator leak being fairly common in the DA, and that tip came in handy today. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be demanding way too high a price! What did you guys pay for yours? Time for another search.
Frustrating day overall. No luck with the DA's. I will never try to find another EG either, everyone seems to think they are some kind of rare and awesome find, and asks over $1000 what it is worth....damn ricers!
Oh well, back on the hunt again.

never hurts to find an automatic..so you know it wasnt thrashed...and do a swap. unless you plan on seriously modding the b18
if you do get an auto and want to drive it, just know that there is a recurring problem with the auto SHIFT POSITION SWITCH. I have spoken with several auto DA owners, and in cold whether this stupid switch doesnt like registering that the tranny is in its Park position and prevents you from removing the key... it takes about a minute
another good tip, thanks.
I would prefer manual, the car is so much better with it. However, Im not limiting myself to that either.

i honestly would hold out for a manual....
but people do ask way too much for older hondas in general..its not like its not a 16 year old car....there are a ton of "what i paid threads" but depending on the area and the condition you're looking at probably btwn 2k and 4k for a pretty nice one..buckets being a lot cheaper...
also you might have to travel to find a nice one for a good price

I know, I usually would say the same, but this is just going to be a utility car...a winter beater basically. All I need is something that won't leave me stranded.

Well I guess that takes my car off your list.
Good luck with your search.

I've noticed the same thing lately. I'm definitely keeping my DA, but I've been looking for a CRX. I love both the DA and the CRX, so I wanted two projects. But I found like 50 CRX's with b16's and primer color going for 4 grand! With 200k+miles on them! That's insane. I saw a really clean CRX with 185k on it, and they wanted 6500 for it. KBB says the retail value for that car is $1800. And granted, I'd be willing to spend an extra grand or so to get a clean CRX, but 4700 over blue book is out of the question.

well, that takes care of that. I got my Honda, not a DA though...sorry guys. I found a rusted old EG instead. It'll have to do.
I appreciate all the help guys. I may have to pick up a DA one day still.
