Default test pipe vs. resonator

okay I have a 00 Civic and I want to remove my catalytic converter for better airflow/more hp/louder. what would be the best mod for it. should i replace the catalytic converter with a test pipe or resonator.

The obvious would be the test pipe, but it depends on how tight emissions testing is in your area.

test pipe will give the most top end power. hondas aren't the kind of cars that sound good without a cat though. i've heard an ITR with a test pipe and it sounded horrible, way too raspy and bubbly. unless you can find an exhaust that was designed to run without a cat your car will sound really bad (and not too many companies out there make these for hondas if any at all!). i would say go with a high flow cat, and just run a test pipe when you go to the track. not to mention the CEL, emissions failure, the tuning you would have to do to optimize the test pipe, etc...

I'd put a resonator in there, but a straight-through design resonator with no restrictions. Those should not hinder performance and offer a much cleaner sound.
