I messed up and need help

Default I messed up and need help

While changin the axle on my car I did what people told me not ti do and hit a bolt with a hammer... now it mushroomed and I cant get nut on it... How can I fix it?

without a tap/dye set, the easiest way is to file or grind the end of the bolt down until you can get the nut to slide on, and then try to get the nut to start threading

i wouldnt be the most conserned about the nut side i would check the tranny side or half shaft for possible damage first. are they in place?

what do you mean? the Axle is in it was the Bolt for the Tie rod I think

get a set of thread repair files. they work wonders on axles.

so u messed up the lower ball joint stud, correct?


dammit, we had that problem too. ended up getting a new ball joint... i tried cutting and filing it down... and a tap and die set, to no avail. doesn't mean you cant try

i did this once while lowering a car,, stupid mistake and ended up being a pain in the ***. tried to fix it every way we knew how and nothing worked. had to buy a new ball joint... try napa, they usually sell them for fairly cheap.
