Default High flow cat or Omni test pipe?

I am doing my Senior Project and for this project I must replace the headers, catalytic converter, and exhaust. For this I have chosen to go with: GReddy headers and a Tanabe Concept G exhaust. Now, should I purchase a high flow cat from Random Technology or Carsound, or should I buy the Omni test pipe. I know the test pipe is illegal here in Cali but that doesn't matter. What should I do?

Oh Please, stop it. "illegal here in Cali but that doesn't matter. What should I do?" Yeh, if you want to leave it in the Garage and just look at it. Between CHIP's and the CARB, your driving on the street will be of a short duration. Put the converter on and tell your instructor he's an idiot for advocating non-compliant behavior.

oh, P please..lol

a test pipe will give you a CEL, unless you have a defouler or o2 simulator.
the gain from NA is very minium(although some s2000 guy gets around 8-10RWHP from this mod., but again, their F is not our F serie). The ticket for non-working or non-existing(as in this case) would be around 600 dollar and you need to get it ref.
it's not a very good investment wise if you running on the street, i had one but it's for track day only.

if you must do it, at least get a resonated test pipe, they cut down the noise and hopefully, you could slip but the donut eating bastard.

Not sure about random tech's cat passing emission or not but most guys have it seems to like it.

high flow cat. using a test pipe is bad. when people do illegal stuff like replace emmissions equipment , it just causes problems for the rest of us.....who like to be able to breathe and modify our cars

You might want to consider not replacing the header too. According to your sig you have an EX, which came with a pretty decent stock one.

Once, I've said that, and an idiot here at HT called me a "fu**** hippie"... lol
Ain't nothing hippie about that I think... it's all a matter of being rational!!!
People do things and don't even understand the consequences.... they don't think about tomorrow or if it will bother someone or something.
Test pipes, straight pipes, cigarettes, drugs, hunting... all that crap is for loosers, people that aren't any smarter than a mice.

I prefer the phrase "Dumber than a Sac 'o' Hammers" as an equal opportunity disrespect. God knows we all know someone like that.

not true, ive seen many cars with test pipes run w/o cel...
i believe when you run test pipe on any obdII car with two o2's is when a cel will be triggered...

My personal choice is high flow cat, I've always run Random Tech Cats. I picked them because of the R&D that went in to make a smog legal higher flowing cat, the simplicity of a bolt on design and the reassurance that it wouldn't make my car sound and run like crap. You can go Carsound also cuz well, you can't beat the price. Run test pipes/straight pipes on the track or for FI applications. Good luck

when the catalytic converter rusted off of my '90 Accord, i sawed it off and put in a piece of straight pipe.

damn that **** was loud. car also had a Stromung catback exhaust so loud already. definitely picked up some noticeable power on the topend. i think MPG went down a bit due to less backpressure.

i sold the car before the next emission was due. every 2 years for Maryland. pretty strict here too.

maybe you can weld in a small muffler that looks like a catalytic converter. i think a brand called Bullet has mufflers like this.
