I have a 91 SI CRX and I went to put on my new JDM front bumper and from what I can see, I ran into a problem. I searched and read up on what I saw was all the posts about putting a JDM bumper on a USDM bumper support. From all the posts I read, it should just bolt right up. When I put the bumper up to fit it, it was hitting what looked like some sort of bumper support that I didnt see anyone talking about in all the threads. The only thing I can think of is that since my car is a 91 it might have more metal up front or something.

Here is a pic of what the bumper is hitting. At the bottom nicely outlined in red for viewing pleasure.



Any ideas? Anyone had this problem?

are you doing the whole conversion (hood, bumper, lights) or just the bumper onto the usdm front

 

Is it plastic or metal? Look around, if it doesn't seem to be important, ditch it.

 

The whole front end is being switched. Fenders, hood, T-bar, bumper, and lights. I just took that picture before I tore out my USDM lights. The piece is metal and I was thinking of just drilling out the welds and ditchin it.

 

well it looks like the usdm bumper support. i have also heard that the jdm and the usdm supports are diffrent. and that the bumper wont align right with a crx if u don't chenge the lights, hood, rad support....if u have a civic HB it does fit....u just have to bend a bracket on one of the sides....

 

i didnt bend cut or change anything, i took all my usdm parts off an on went the jdm ones. i would help u out but i have some wack virus and 90 percent of the pics on this site dont show up so i can only comment on wat ive read

 

i would say just to hack off everything except where the bumper bolts on or get an hf one cause its lighter and no cutting required

U need to remove that whole support the JDM cars don't have the crash beams underneath there bumpers due to the fact that there not required in japan.

 

ditch the usdm bumper support for the jdm one and you wont have any problems.
