Default mini-me timing belt

im looking to do a mini-me swap and was curious about the timing belt. i bought a timing belt for my d16a6 crx si last month because i thought it needed one, but the current one only has 30k miles on it, so it's still got good life on it. im looking to do a mini-me swap though with a y8 head. would i be able to use this timing belt with this head? thanks

No its to long,,

The y8 timing belt works,,but its really really tight,,Ive found that the 92-95 civic dx timing belt works better with the a6/minime setups..

Yeah..The a6 timing belt has 107 teeth and is to loose..The y8/z6 belt work but its very very tight,,has 104 teeth.. The 92-95 dx has 106 teeth and works better..

A vtec controller is worthless..Im sorry..Because alot of people do mini-me setups and keep the stock si ecu and get a vtec controller..But that doesnt do anything but click the solenoid..It doesnt add the neccesary timing and fuel for vtec stage..A vtec controller is cool to get if you already have a vtec ecu,,But dont just get the vtec controller by itself and think you have vtec..

The best thing to do is convert to obd1 and run a p28 ecu,,or you can stay obd0 and have the ecu chipped and run turboedit one wire vtec setup,,its free program,,you just have to pay for the socketing and chip process...

Edit-And I see you have a 89,,its a pain to chip the 88-89 ecus..

Well to run the p28 you need the p28 ecu itself and also convert to obd1..Id say the average price for a nonstolen p28 is around $75-$120..

But to get your ecu chipped check out xenocron.com..Like I say though the 89 ecu is a bitch to chip,,you can use any 90-91 pm6 ecu from si or pr4 from 90-91 integra also, these are easier to chip as they have external eprom..Check out http://pgmfi.org for lots more info..

When I did it it wasnt that bad..

New Timing belt from rockauto $20
New Waterpump from rockauto $30
Had xenocron socket and chip the ecu for $70
Adjustable cam gear, $30 off ebay

That was it..Reused stock A6 dizzy,intake manifold,and fuel rail,injectors..Its not that bad..

If you can find a 90-91 ecu,,you'll be fine,,from any 90-91 integra,,90-91 civic/crx si or ex..There maybe some other ecus..

obd1 is on board diagnostics 1..92-95 = obd1,,,,, 88-91 = 0bd0 ..

To convert youll need
-4 wire o2 sensor
-obd1 p28 ecu
-obd0-obd1 conversion harness
-distibutor plug adapter
-obd1/obd2 distributor

For the harness you you find them at rywire.com or attempt to make one yor self if you're good with wiring..
