Default Another "How Much Should I Pay"???

Found a 2001 ITR PY w/ Authentic JDM Front End w/ 55KMI Clean Title. The car is basically Stock other than the front end, BUT it has been rear ended before and the bumper, trunk, and rear 1/4 panel was repaired. I did a carfax and its a one-owner vehicle with NO history whatsoever (including the rear end accident).

Assuming the car is in FAIR CONDITION and the rear was repaired FAIRLY GOOD, HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY?

I would like to know what a FAIR PRICE would be and also WHAT A STEAL would be?

I'm checking out the car tommorrow and will hopefully pick it up, but would like everyones opinion. Also, what should I look for in particular MECHANICALLY?

I'd never buy a formerly wrecked vehicle, but that's just me.

(flame suit on)
As for a JDM front, I consider that to be a mod which does nothing for value of the vehicle. If anything it may only add 1/4 the retail value to the car, but honestly I don't even calculate it into the value.

I don't like the fact that this car you mentioned has no history - that really bothers me and is just another red flag that would personally make me walk away.

I'm sure there are some cars out there that are former wrecks / theft recoveries that are now show cars. I just prefer to find a vehicle untainted and unmolested.

I can't really give you any kind of value without even seeing the car. Can you provide pictures?

If you just want a ballpark, I would say $15k on the high end.

As for mechanically, take the car to a shop that knows what the expletive they are doing and have them perform a full inspection INCLUDING a compression AND leakdown test on the motor.

I cannot stress that enough. As for what you can do when looking at the car and the motor - make sure the tranny has a matching vin plate and has "LSD" on it. Verify that the stamp on the block says B18C5 if it's a USDM motor.

There are tons of other things you should look for, but you will have to search here because honestly - I'm tired of typing.

If it's near Sandy/Cottonwood, I can go look at it with you. I'm looking for a Black one, so I'm not going to go into a bidding war with you.

A steal would probably be $12-$13k, but it'll probably go for $15-16k. The thing that worries me is the lack of history of the vehicle. That could also mean that it maybe has had more than one owner.

Sorry guys, but I think I may have confused you guys. The CARFAX history is there with mileage and one owner history, just NO negative HISTORY whatsoever including the rear end accident. I will be driving in an hour to see the car and will keep you guys updated.

Thanks

That just means it wasn't handled through insurance. That would also lead me to believe that the damage was not too bad. I couldn't give you a range of what I would offer without seeing the car in person first.
