Default Interesting problem...

Ok, I mentioned this slightly in another thread but just recently found a new problem about it and decided to see if I could get some insight into the problem(s)...

Firstly, the car is holding back (but only sometimes). For example: sometimes when I'm out cruisin around it shifts fast and you can really feel it kick. But other times (that majority of the time) it just put-puts along. The second part of the problem is that ALL of the cars lights get really dim if I'm not pushing on the gas. They don't die, but they look like they're about to. Then I push on the gas a little and it lights back up.

I replaced the altinator and it seemed to fix the problem for a short while. But then the problems came back and now I'm pretty worried.

It's a 1988 CRX dx with no real changes other than altinator, throttle botty (bought used), and coolant temperature sensor.

Any help is appriciated! I'm willing to try pretty much anything.

Thanks all! I'll have that checked out tomorrow. If it's not the battery then what are the other options?

I like to be prepaired.

I went and had the battery tested. It turned out ok. The guy who helped me couldn't find anything really wrong, but he recommended cleaning off the battery with a battery brush. So i cleaned it off (you wouldn't believe the **** it was covered in) and it's working alright.

BUT I noticed that some cars usually have a little bracket type thing to hold the battery down... mine's missing. Is that a problem you think? And if it is where can I buy a replacement bracket to hold the battery down?

the battery tie down strap would not cause that but its always a good thing to have to keep your battery in place

also i would have your grounds cleaned also maybe even replace the ground straps... if your terminals were that corroded your grounds could be also
