Arc Welder - Lincoln AC-225 good for beginner?
Well I came across this welder in the local classifieds practically brand new. Regular price is $499 at sears while I can get it for $150. I have never welded before and I'm only looking to learn and do small jobs like ic pipes and downpipes.

i wouldnt even mess with an arc welder....
unless you are welding submarine hulls or the empire state building, its not really waht you want. You'd be better off with a harbor freight mig

my best advice to you is this... save your money and buy the nicest welder you can afford. I'd stick with the big 3 (Lincoln, Miller and Hobart (made by miller))... they hold their resale value if you decide its not for you. 230v vs 110 is another debate but I dont think there is a thing on a car you cant weld with a 110v machine. Check out the little Lincolns they ahve at home depot. You can usually get 10% off for the floor model and they are under$500. Also, invest in the gas conversion... dont bother with a machine without the capability of gas
