***HEEEELLLLPP!***Car Starting Whoes 91 SI LS SWAP.... DISTRIBUTOR PROBLEMS? Wireing?? hell i dont k
Well my car works fine. i have a 91 si hatch with an obd0 LS swap. I have my cel throwing code 8 which is TDC sensor... Well the helms, chilton, haynes books say replace the distributor.. So i did. (bought a dizzy off rhditr) Okay it worked fine for a few days with no cel's being thrown.. I go to start the car and it doesn't start.. I pull the carpet back, and behold the damn ecu is flashing 8 short flashes at me again! So i pop the hood, check for poor connections, and go in and try and start the car again and nothing. As in nothing i mean i have the key turned, i can hear the main relay, and the fuel pump priming, but on start.. So i wait 30 min get back in my pile of **** and it starts right up... But the ECU is still throwing cel 8. I have tried 3 different ecus, 2 distributors... And this is the second motor this has been happening to me in.. The harness is uncut and in great condition. So i am not sure if it would be the harness or not. But i do think its QUITE ODD for this to happen to me with 2 different dizzys, 3 different ecu's and this problem DOESNT ALWAYS HAPPEN. Just 3 times a week or so.. ALL times the car starts after about 10-30 min of waiting and it just ends up starting. I have replaces, plugs, wires, distributor, ecu, oh and i replaced fuel injectors for ***** n giggles. Could my timing be off? I mean its a vague question for me to ask i know.. But i would think if my timing was off it wouldn't start at all. My problem is it starts fine 19/20 times. But getting it to start up when its throwing that cel is a bitch.. ANY HELP AT ALL is greatly appreciated
hmmm bad ground maybe?.. mine did the same but it wasnt a set time, i replaced the wire running from the battery and the starter because to the naked eye and without getting up close u couldnt tell it was corroded.. mine was.. got some thicker/bigger wire and better ground did the trick.. dunno if its ur prob tho.. i also have a 90 Si w/ LsVtec swap
yeah i am going to replace the grounds here very soon. But would that cause me to throw cel 8 though? thats what i am unsure about. Not sure why its throwing it on two perfectly good distributors.. (knowing they are good since i put them on another car and works great..) very weird i know. Thanks for the help guys,

I'd definitly do what the others have said and double check all your grounds. I just swapped a LS into mine and the ground by the starter was throwing my **** off as well.
thanks guys, and yeah i will most definetly check my grounds after work tomorrow. I should also pick up a wire brush head for my drill at biglots for 88 cents so i can make sure all the grounds have a good connection! lol i will keep you guys posted on exactly anything out of the ordinary i find.
Actually now that i think about it. I notice the car has more power at some points during a drive than others... maybe it is my grounds... Welp i will keep ya guys posted.
