the only Accord Type R was available in Europe during the production run of the 6th gen accord (99-02). it was powered by a variant of the h22a7, and the chassis code is CH1

technically, yes. but only in japan.erm.. if you wanted pictures of it, its all in scrapyards, due to the japans law which says that any vehicle over 3 years of age must be either scrapped or sent overseas due to overproduction or double the taxes of the vehicle, regardless of its condition.
I'm finding all manner of a '97 EDM Accord Type-R references, but I'm having a bear of a time scaring up a picture
I'll keep looking (but I'm starting to agree....)

NO TECHINGALLY NOT. and your knowledge of that law is inheritnly flawed as well.
1.) THERE WAS NOT AN ACCORD TYPE-R UNTILL 1999.
2.) the laws in japan force the cars to remain up to date with emissions standards. in japan, if your car is 20 years old, it has to be as clean running as a modern car -otherwise you pay a higher tax. most people just pay the higher tax or at least get parts replaced for a few years. the dont scrap or export EVERY car that is over 3 years old. thats retarded.
here is an article on the ATR. http://www.theautochannel.com/....html
the 5th gen came as an SiR outside of North America. it was powered by an H22a, and an LSD equipped tranny was optional in some cases. it had an optional trunk lid spoiler, and other than that, was the exact same as the rest of the accords

Fw190bvi,
Thanks for the link... I don't think it would have sold well here with only a slight edge in performance over the V6 but it does look slick....
For this market a type R would have to be a 300HP 3.5L version of the accord and we all know that aint gonna happen any time soon...............
I wonde if someone will order am accord type R sticker and slap it on their car........

Civic? On the right side of the trunk the word Accord in italized writing is what I make out. Besides Civics don't come in v6 format on any market. It appears to have stock dual exhaust.

That red European Type R came with an h22a. I dont think it came with a v6.

the euro market must be completttttely different then. no usdm or jdm h22 comes with duel exhaust without being v6.

once again, ITS A EUROPEAN CAR
its kind of an oddball for honda -which is why when production of the CF chassis ended in 02, they didnt continue the model.

glad to see that you are still keeping accurate info in here fw...good work...
but yes, he is correct that the only type r accord was the european 6th gen (which started in 99 in europe i believe)...it was significantly lighter than the regular accord, had a much stiffer chassis, and could compete with the ITR in road racing circuits...

There is so much info in here floating around confusing people.
There is NO Type R Accord for 94-97.
There was a Type R starting in 1999.
It did have an H22 in it.
It did have dual exhaust even though it was 4 cylinder.
There is no Civic Sedan picture in this thread.
There is no Accord in the United States based on the chassis the Type R is on.
The Type R would have kicked 6th gen USDM Accord V6 ***. (suspension, weight)
