weird problem, code 43 fixed!
ive been throwing code 43(fuel system supply) and 17(VSS) for a while. Well i thought it might have been my o2, so i was waiting to complete my obd-1 conversion to fix it. On saturday i replaced the VSS and the spedometer started working again. I drove the car from dallas to houston and no CEl came on. My o2 isn't even hooked up, now my question is shouldn't i be throwing throwing a code for the o2? also how would the VSS(code 17) affect and make the car throw code 43(fuel supply system.)
The only thing that I can think of is that somehow the fuelmaps/timing on stock ecu are affected by the speed that you are traveling.
TYSON where are u to explain?

im not an ecu expert, im not sure what made you think i was.
i really dont know whats up. why are you running without an o2 sensor anyway? im surprised the car even runs properly, if at all.
usually if code 17 pops up, its just the contacts in the back of the guage cluster going bad. cleaning the contacts solves that. the electronic VSS is what is back of the speedo and sends a signal back to the ECU. i imagine the speed of the car is tied into the fuel maps that the ecu uses, but i could be wrong. im not the ecu expert.
btw, i was sleeping.

Yes they are but a wire sends the electronic signal from the gauge cluster where the signal is made to the ECU for the VSS signal pin. Otherwise how would the ECU judge vehicle speed? Stick it's wiring harness out the door and let it flap in the wind?

thats kool bro......... my car was bogging bad sometimes and then all of a sudden i fix the VSS and boom no codes what so ever.
the reason i havent swapped o2 sensor is because um about to do my obd-0 to obd-1 conversion......hehe

I have a obd2 gsr swap in my 95 ej, ex model. I have been throwing a code 43 for a while now also. Changed fuel filter, fuel pump, cat, spark plug wires, cap, rotor, coil, and it still is throwing the code. Car feels like it is bogging out at times and it also feels sluggish at times. any suggestions?
