Default Front Driver Side Door Won't Open

I haven't been able to open my front door for the last week. It doesn't open from the outside or the inside. I was able to partially take the panel off. But everything seems to be in good working order. I can operate the windows and the door locks. I think it might be the latch. Has anyone come across this problem? Any help would be appreciated since I'm sick of using the passenger door and climbing over the centre console. Thanks.

wow. I was expecting to see a 1990.
I would be willing to bet one of the rods popped off. Your going to have to rip the door panel all the way off so you can look in and see. Has anyone tried to slim jim the car or otherwise break in?

I was able to partially get the door panel off. All the rods are still connected. Could it be the latch? Everything else is still working.

try to pull the rods manually and play with the door(pull the door in). mabye you can get lucky. Does the handle feel dead when you pull on it (no resistance)?

When I pull on the rods I can make the door handle move, but that is it. When I pull on the handle there's no resistance.

Unfortunately I don't know how to forcefully make the latch open without damaging the car. You may have to dish out the dollars and take it into a dealer. Definately don't take it to a non honda shop or you will never have your car back in one peice.

Don't know if this'll help or not but...

In my '93 945T Volvo my passenger side back door wouldn't open. A week ago I got the door panel off and figured out that the problem was the rod that went between the door lock and the latch - there were two small clips that held the rod in place but they had worn out. So what was happening was that when the door was locked the bar would pull towards the lock (away from the latch), but when it was unlocked the rod would bow downwards instead of pushing the latch to unlock it.

The short-term solution was to pop the rod upwards to unlock the door but that means that I can't have the panel on. The fix is to replace the two plastic clips which I would have done last Monday if the dealership hadn't been hit by a tornado a week ago (hasn't been open since).

Anyway... your door is not unlocking for some reason. You have to either figure out why, or take it to the dealership. Try taking your passenger side panel off to see excactly how it comes off, then take the driver's side off (I think you can do it with the door closed but I've never tried it). Just fiddle around, gently moving rods around etc (don't force anything of course), see if you can figure it out.

I agree, it sounds like your car door is stuck in 'locked' mode. i would focus on the lock mechanism and any linkage leading up to it, and try to get it to move or respond at all. may be time to consult the manual...

So I ended up taking my car to the local Honda dealership. $515 later my door can now open. They replaced the latch assembly. Apparently a piece of plastic broke off and lodged itself in the assembly. Thanks for everyones help.
