Default larger and wider wheels to balance out the EF

Will tall, and wide, (17 BY 7.5) wheels make my EF more stable, because I will have a wider stance and I can lower my ride some more, thereby lowering the center of gravity, or will the larger wheels not ride as well, and cause undesirable oversteer that would make the car even more unstable?

Large wheels drive loke poo.
Wider stance (wheel offset) will make the car track like mad.

REAL wide wheels and tires are for auto-X only.

Dump the car, invest in -PROPER- offset wheels (40-45) and have it aligned. It'll handle fine. Bolt on some bars and it'll be even better.

Alignment is possibly the most important thing with suspension modification.

And to add to what Seti said I wouldn't go above a 15"x7". Other than that Seti speaks for me too.

wider stance doesn't work like you are imagining- your wheels are attached to suspension parts that move. moving the wheel too far away from where it was designed to be is going to have effects that you don't like. difficult steering and tracking are just two of them.

for a dd, stick with what the guys above have said to you, and the other billion people who ask wheel/tire size questions each day and you'll be happy.

you wrote "track like mad" about the wider wheels

is that a good thing or bad thing in your opinion?

one of the main reasons I wanted taller wheels was so I could lower the car an extra inch and pick up better handling

tracking is BAD.

Tracking is pulling into potholes and tracks and dips in the road.

taller wheels (well, tires) will let you lower your car less, and will provide you with worse handling. there is a reason that race crx's use 13, 14, or 15in wheels, depending on brake/ tire setup.

trust everyone else and get ~et40 15x7's and 205/50's.

I don't know if I have ever seen a race CRX with 17's. I know that I use 15's on the track and off the track due to the brake setup I have. I have 15x7 Rewinds for the track and 15x6.5 Flik Fuels for the street.

Tracking will annoy the heck out of you. I took the 17's off my wife's 96 Civic Coupe because it would find every rut in the road. Also rode like crap, the 99-00 Si rims are so much better and ride better.

Unless you have a body kit 17's will look like a monter truck. 16s look too big too to most people.

If you want your car to handle better, here's a thought, go through and replace every balljoint and tie rod on the car. Then get it alligned. It will feel awesome. You'd be amazed at how worn joints and old struts make the car feel like a POS.

I took my CRX up to 145mph after an alignment and it felt solid.
