burning smell WTF??
So... on my d16a6 Crx si I have a sound system 2 audiobahn 10's solid audio amp, audiobahn bass driver(capasitor) and crossover. My charge battery light started to flash on at low rpm's and idle. It would disapear at higher rpm. The rpm's required to make it disapear constantly got higher. Had the alternator checked at autozone. Next day the car died. I bought the duralast alternator and installed it by taking out the master cylnder. I put it on to loose and it squeaked like crazy so i used a pry bar and LIGHTLY pushed it from the motor while i tighted the bolt. I had to charge the battery and the car started. While driving it is making a sound kinda like thu thu thu thu it stays the same with my speed until you cant hear it over the car. The next time i drove it i smelt something burning. It isn't charging my capasitor batteries. I may have shorted them out because i took of the power wire(to the battery) instead of the ground <=i think i got it backward. Also i recently took out the cat and put in a strait pipe...sounded horrible. So i put a turbo tube resonator thing (sounds awsome) quiet at idle a little loud at full throtle
My questions
Could the alternator be fried
Could the capasitors be fried
Could the alternator belt be to tight, thus compressing the bearing and making the burning smell?
Please help me thanks.

check the voltage at the battery, i had a new/rebuilt alt that was OVER CHARGING. (putting out 18v+), check that. you may have to have the rev's over 1k to see because at idle mine was fine, but as soon as i touched the gas the volts pegged out the voltage guage i have.
