Default wanting to run the S at the track.. got questions??

I didn't get this car to race, but I would like to see what it can do just once. (car is bone stock) My question is.... If I run at the track and something breaks and I have it towed back to the dealership. Is there anyway they can tell if I was racing the car? ie. check the ECU or anything like that? When I bought my 03 I got the warranties and all that. I just don't want to show up and have them tell me some **** like "we checked the ECU or the axles, etc. etc. and your warrantie is voided". TIA

EDIT: only had the car about 3 weeks, want to see how it measures up against my C5 hatch that I sold.

unless you over rev the motor it is going to be hard for them to pin anything on you. However other parts such as the differential, clutch, and synchros can be considered "wear and tear" items and therefore may not be covered under your exsisting warranty. Are you talking about the drag strip?

Yes, going to the drag strip. I am too old to be street racing anymore.

How about insurance? If you clip a rail at the track, are you still covered?

Only thing I would be concerned with is the rear diff, its a weak point on our cars. S2k's aren't built around launching, so you could very easily grenade yours if you hook at the line. What year is yours?

(I'm sure other people will chime in and say I'm crazy, but I've seen my fair share of blown stock diffs out of our car)

Your standard insurance will not cover damages that occured at a track.

This is actually only partially correct. Most policies do not cover straight open track time (although some may once, but then drop you after or raise your rates significantly), but if you are at an event labeled specifically for instructional purposes and under the supervision of an instructor then you might be covered. Best thing to do is check the particulars of your policy or call your agent before you head out. Or, just say F it and have a good time

Ok, well if the diff goes I will have it towed to the dealership and lie my *** off. lol As far as my insurance goes, if I am stupid enough to run a high 13/ low 14 sec car into the wall or some ****, I didn't deserve the damn car to begin with.

The whole diff thing seems a little BS to me if you launch the car right getting at least a little wheel spin you are fine. Hell the 10 second s2k (the silver one for sure) was on stock differential.

Why would you try to scam Honda to fix something that you caused to break?

That makes you a thief in my eyes.

thanks for calling bs on me then repeating my point... "you could very easily grenade yours if you hook at the line."

If you are refering to the 10.7 who first hit 10's, his blew up the next pass... I believe the other guy has a built diff.

Just meant as a friendly warning, because I've seen more then my share of them go blammo. I've done a couple swaps myself with them. *shrug* just my opinion, take it for what its worth.

A thief? I have been called a lot of things but a thief has never been one of them. I find this very offensive and in all honesty this pisses me off. There was no reason for going that route with me. Totally uncalled for.

Dude you are not a theif, If the car breaks, when it is stock, then you have every right to get it fixed without telling Honda you did it at the track! This is something Honda has reserve funds for. Fixing crap that is under warranty, or just plain faulty, is part of their job!!!!!!!!! I had an 05 accord coupe, and got two spots of sap on the paint and the clear coat F'ed up on me so I had them repaint the whole drivers side door and the whole section of roof above the passengers side window. When I got it back I wasn't happy and they did it again, then it still wasn't perfect...guess what I told them to paint again! Even though it was sap(not technically a defect) and the spots were sooo small, that doesn't make me a theif....just a smart talker!

like mentioned that 10 second s2000 broke his diff on his next pass. one lucky pass doesn't mean anything.

you go on thinking it's bs... it's your diff that you'll break and have to pay for. i just encourage you not to tell people that breaking diff's is bs and that it won't happen, becaues i've seen it happen and it will happen. you don't want to be the cause of someone's broken diff do you?
