Default Atv guys / need some advice

If you were go out and buy a brand new work quad today what would it be?

My parents want one to plow the drive way and for taking out for rides at our cabin. I figure they would need:

1) 400-500 cc
2) 4 wheel drive
3) 5-speed tranny

I never really liked the automatics as I have been on bikes my hole life.

The used market sucks so they are looking for a new one.

I have shown them the foremen/4trax and I might take them to see the suzuki eiger as my grand dad has one that impressed me.

What does yamaha or others have to offer?

i have worked at a few different dealers and i have had very good experience with the arctic cat ATVs and the kawasakis. they are both very good utility ATVs and have a millions different options and accessorys. and we used to have a arctic cat for plowing the parking lot in the morning and it started and had no problem plowing every morning.

My choice would be an 06 Honda Foreman 500. It has a mega low first gear for pulling, and pushing heavy loads. A solid machine with a solid reputation. For being a solid rear axle it is a comfortable ride. It is a very simple machine which is good, and no belts to break or slip. One of the best parts is the selectable 4x4/2x4 switch. If you need more information on the foremans late me know, ive had 2 and currently own the 05 500, and would reccomend it to anyone.

3)automatic though

don't let the automatic scare you away though, couple of guys I ride with have automatics, One is a Bruin and the other is a Kodiak, both 4X4 and both are very good atv's

My honda rancher kicks some serious ***, me and my brother have romped the thing to hell and back and it starts and runs just fine no matter what the weather. We've had it about 4 or 5 years i believe. Can't beat honda in my opinion.

Well, we went and bought a 2006 suzuki eiger in green.

Its a 400cc and it has a standard tranny and 4 wheel drive.

We wanted a honda but after looking at the gearing and everything else it wasn't a pratical ride. The foreman was the best looking I thought but its top speed is about 70 km/h and suzukis top end is around 100 so that was one of the biggest points that turned us to suzuki.

I should have pics on thursday when we take delivery of it. They have to get a plow installed/shipped in.

And we just got anther 15 inches on saturday so it would have come in handy then.

My dad owns a resort in Minnesota, and we get plenty of snow. We have a plow on a truck, and have always had plows for out 4wheelers.

We have had 3 polaris 4's over the last 15 years probably, and my dad always swore by them, until he blew the motor in the polaris 500 sportsman edition with the mossy oak camo. He rebuilt it himself, and it was fine, ran good until we sold it, but he was aprehensive about buying another because the motor seemed weak to begin with. My dad is a hardcore gun nut/hunter...hunts any and everything, and since he owns a resort, hes out east/west/south all winter hunting fox/coyote/elk/wild turkeys/bear/carribou/ and i think he goes out west for cougar sometimes too. Anyway, all his buddies bring there four wheelers, and this year, they all ended up on the same one. My dad bought the new 660 Yamaha last summer, and he loves the **** out of it. It seems to be a little cold blooded, its an auto, but its a damn good machine so far. Plows snow with it, drags the gravel road on the resort with it. We put docks on the back of it to push them in, and pull them out. We also use the winch on it to pull boat lifts out...some of the older steel lifts with canopies we use the bobcat for, but this yami seems to be a ****** work horse with no end.

Take it for what it is man...good luck on your choice.
