Question about polishing wheels...
This post is in reference to Rota's that come colored already. My question is how hard is it to polish wheels that come painted already, and how good can I get them to look? Time isn't really that much of a factor, more along the lines of how easy would it be to strip the paint (aircraft paint remover I'm guessing will work) and how to get them to the polished stage.
Thanks for any input guys

well i just finished polishing 2 of my hx wheels today and it was a pain in the ***...i would say with striping them and sand/polishing time i spent around 8-10 hours on those 2.. so its gonna be the same process for rotas to
the way i did it was use air craft stripper, a drill with a wire wheel and a small wire brush to strip the wheels, then i started sanding with 240, then 400, 500, 1000, then 2000 then just polished them up!!!! with mothers aluminum polish

along with the mothers polish i used a dremel first with a polishing drum then went over it by hand. It will make a world of difference in the polishing. Just let the dremel do the work
Im in the process of doing a set of Group N's i just picked up for a killer price. The stripping part alone is a bitch. I've only done two so far and started at around 10:00 and only got two of them stripped fully. They were Black with the red lip. So yes its a bitch and it does suck but its your own potential and drive and when your done you will love them...
I've never seen polished Group N's so i decided i would give it a try. Although i have alot of experience polishing, but all in all stripping is the sucky part.
Best of luck and keep us posted. I plan on making a thread in teh next few days of the wheels and process...
