How to make my 2002 Accors faster withough spending too much $$$$
Hey guys, I was wondering how I could make my 2002 honda accord coupe faster but I don't wanna spend to much money. I already bought a K&N air intake system but I don't know what else to do without emptyin by bank account.
You were doing ok, until you made the crack about empting your bank account. The sorry fact about this great thing we do is the expense; for no other reason that serious horsepower is bought with ridiculously massive amounts of money.
The trick to it all?
Spend it only once
By that I mean do your research first; and listen listen listen.
There is nothing more agrivating than spending good money on something, just to find out it wasn't the correct way to do it; and then having to buy something else to correct your previous mistake.
I could give you the wise-*** responce to your question with:
"only drive on Rt6 Eastbound starting at Reservoir Rd and ending at Metro Honda"*
The down-hill should get you a few more MPH.
But I won't
You're well on your way

i saw this somewhere once...it goes something like
pick two out of three...reliable, fast, cheap.
if you want a fast and reliable car, it won't be cheap.

I like these two answers. Deeply consider them. And yeah research or your wallet will indeed suffer.

I don't understand how you have come to that decision. Less weight means the engine has to pull less. This is not ricey. It's actually smart. For Example you take a guy that weighs 300 lbs and a guy that weighs 200 lbs. Who is gonna be faster, who is going to get tired faster, who will wear down faster. Chances are the 300 lbs guy.

There is a quote from an old movie that applies here -
"Speed is a question of money, how fast can you go?"
As others have said, be smart about your spending. Do your research first, so you don't end up wasting money. Learn the "tricks" from others, also listen well to those that have had problems, so you can avoid them.
The thing you need to do yourself is, decide exactly how far are you willing to go. Are you willing to do a cam swap? Or will you stop at bolt ons? This will give you the direction you need to go.

No p/s.
There you go...you are now faster and you spent no money.

What more can be said? You've already done the drop-in filter, which is almost as cheap as a power gain can be, and others have suggested weight reduction, which will only cost you your own time.
Anything after that requires bigger investments of time & money. Sorry, but there's not really a way around it. You can always be on the lookout for used parts from other people's upgrades to keep costs down, but you will still need to spend.
If you want a big gain-to-$ ratio, go for a 50-75hp nitrous setup. Just don't be careless in installing & using it, or else you'll cost yourself your motor.
Other gains that will net you a steady supply of power will be replacing your header & exhaust with aftermarket parts.
If you want a larger steady gain, you can either do an engine-swap, or a supercharger/turbocharger, but this is where you get into the thousands of dollars of investment.

What is cheap, fast, and reliable?</TD></TR></TABLE>nitrous + weight reduction + slicks = cheap reliable n fast. Its no secret. but is it practicle to role around town in pretty much a gutted out accord? nope. May the user want to use nitrous? prolly not...people arent really educated about nitrous. and to some....spending 5K is not a problem...but to others it maybe. so like i said..."cheap fast n reliable" is not always true.
