Default power steering fluid

i was having some issues with my rack and pinion so my dad's friend replaced if for us instead of forking over 800 bucks for midas to do it. But i noticed that my dad's friend didn't use power steerinf fluid made for honda, he just used some ATF. everything works okay for now... but i know i need to some how get that fluid out of there. i'm thinking of either getting flushed which may cost a lot or I could just empty out the reservoir. but will either one work?

This won't get 100% of it out, but what you can do is empty the resivoir, disconnect the hoses that are conected to the resivoir, and then turn the wheel from side to side. It'll pump the majority of the fluid out.

Reconnect the hoses and refill it.

ATF is fine and won't hurt anything. It has the exact same properties of "power steering fluid" just a different color! It's all a lightweight anti-foaming oil and it won't hurt a thing!
