Default steering wheel shakes

Sup guys new here, as the title says steering wheel shakes what could be the problem? My tires are good no *****, i got it alingned, from what i was told it could either be my tie rods or a bad motor mount cause it does it when you give it gas? Could bad tie rods cause this? thanks in advance...

Yeah check your wheel bearings and have them balanced. I know that a strut bar will reduce the vibrations, but it's almost a tire/wheel problem. Also if you live near a heavy trucking area, the roads will be grooved and shake a lowered car quite a bit.

If the vibrations occur as you accelerate, my bet is that it is your CV joints. Loose steering column would make sense if it vibrated as you were turning or something. However, vibrations caused by straight line acceleration are probably CV joints. I'm not positive, but if I were you I'd look at the condition of the boots (see if they're ripped or if there is grease seeping out).

A good place to start is to see if there is any play in either of the wheels, try moving them by hand, horizontal and vertical. Then check your axles.

lets start by jacking the front of your car up leaving the front wheels hang, grab your tire at 3 o clock and 9 o clock and shake it side to side. Do u notice any play at all. Make sure your steering wheel is not locked.

I've lifted my car before already and the wheel doensn't have any play like I said I've checked my wheel bearings, i dont think its the axles cause they don't clack when I turn the wheel, plus my cuzing has a si rex and his axles clack when he turns yet his steering wheel does not wiggle left and right like mine. What i do know is that Im gonna need a clutch soon. It can't be the tires because i've switched them to my other civic and they seem perfect on that car, nice and smooth yet on my rex my steering wheel wiggles. The boots on my axles are fine no grease at all no tears. thanks guys....any more suggestions?

pull your axles out..and check the splines, just because your joints are fine doesn't mean your not having axle problems. also check your radius arm and their bushings. thats all I got for now.

Something else to think about is your steering rack. In these old cars the bushings in the racks tend to wear out. This will cause a bit of play while driving.

OP's wheels are bent (it's my sure bet). You have an alignment issue.

I'm sure it's the ball joints for the upper and lower control arms. My rex is doing this pretty bad, mainly on the right side as both rubber boots are torn as well as my tie rod (even though it's still tight). I recently replaced both my axles so their both good but it still vibrates and the mounts (Hasport) are in great condition as well.

i hate the clicking noise.. i had to hear that for over a month because i was too lazy to replace it mostly cuz it was too cold out. but when my axel was bad i didnt have any vibrations. could just be the way it was broken.

maybe... My front uca ball joint has play and the wheel shakes when i drive and knocks when i go over speed bumps. from my experience you can't find a bad ball joint with the tire on unless it's really bad. put on some gloves, grab the knuckle at the top and shake the **** out of it. do the same thing to check the lower ball joint and tie rod. They may seem solid but if you hear any noises then you found the bad part.

i had the same problem i replaced my axles and problem fixed and my boots on the axles were not ripped, check if u got play on the axle - jack up the front end and grab the shaft of the axle and shake it, if it has play maybe time for a new axle
