Plz help me pick a new tire
I drive a 99 Teg sedan, and I am looking at new summer tires (I have winter tires, so snow traction is not an issue, so the Ziex may be thrown out of the mix). Anyways, I am looking to get something that is somewhat sticky and provides good wet traction. The car is not AutoX'd and is used as a daily driver. Since I am looking at summer specific tires, I know I am going to sacrafice some of the longevitiy of the tires, but I do not want something that will be done in two seasons. The car is will be lowered on either Tein H-Tech's or Comptech Sport Springs (both subtle drops) and paired with Neuspeed/Koni yellows........the wheels are 16" Rota C8's.........
I have it narrowed down to three tires (in no particular order)..........thoughts/suggestions/opinions?
Falken Ziex ZE 512 ($70)
BF Goodrich G-Force Sport ($73)
Kumho Ecsta SPT ($81)

BF Goodrich G-Force Sport ($73)
Kumho Ecsta SPT ($81)
The proper 16" (or plus one) size for your car is 205/45-16

The Ziex as you said is an all season so I don't know why you would get it.
The Falken Azenis RT-615 is probably the stickiest street tire there is. Wet weather is not as good as the Eagle F1. $98 in 215/45-16. If you have stock offset it should not rub but this tire is at the limits of how wide you should go on your. Not sure how it will be affected by your suspension set up. Also note that these do not last long on the road.
The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is an excellent dry traction tire with excellent wet traction also. $131 in 205/45-16.
Toyo T-1R is next with top of the line value tires. Don't know what online place sells that one. I forgot.
Kumho Ecsta SPT($74), Yoko AVS ES 100 ($82), and the Dunlope Direzza DZ101 in the 205/45-16 size ($115) are all bang for buck tires. The Dunlop currently has some sort of rebate at tire rack right now.
Anymore questions just ask.
Cheers.

BF Goodrich G-Force Sport ($73)
Kumho Ecsta SPT ($81)</TD></TR></TABLE>
This is an easy choice. The SPT offers much much MUCH better performance than the other two, on dry pavement and on wet pavement.
Also, the SPT is $74/tire at the Tire Rack (205/45-16). If the prices are from Discount Tire, they offer free shipping, so that might account for the difference.
Kumho Ecsta SPT
As old man neri mentioned, you can get even better performance with the Goodyear F1 GS-D3, but it's a lot more money.
Don't get the Falken RT-615 if wet performance is important. Not that it's terrible, but it's not as good as most other tires, including the ones mentioned here.
