Default clutch wet with oil, help?

Ok so ive got a turbo EM1 and ive been dealing with an oil leak for the longest time, I thought it was my oil return from the turbo back to the oil pan. but now im thinking its perhaps the Oil Pan gasket?
i did a clutch change saturday and when we took off the tranny the bell housing was wet with oil, not the typical clutch dust you would find. is it possible that if my oil pan gasket is leaking where the fly wheel shield covers about an inch of the oil pan itself and allowing oil to splash up into my clutch area?

any help? thoughts?

more likely the problem is the rear main seal.

well yes ive thought this and im so ******* stupid when i had the clutch out i didnt take off the flywheel to inspect this.

alltime stupidiest move ever on my part.

the car has 50,000 miles on it, thats IT. i cant believe the RMS went at 50k. Im going to start with my oil pan. I think that the fact that the pan could be leaking and getting oil thrown up into the flywheel area. ill start there i guess.....

i just cant see the RMS going at 50k

Get that fixed. Its either the real main seal or as you deermined the oil pan gasket. Once oil gets on the clutch assembly you are going to have nothing but problems. Don't run your motor like this for much longer.

motor has 5 miles on this new clutch set up...its not getting anymore until i can trace this problem down. the car is also leaking a good amount of oil in my parking spot. so i cant see the rear main leaking this bad, its more of an oil pan issue i believe which in turn COULD get oil into the bell housing.

when i took the old clutch out the CLUTCH itself was dry as was the PP, but there was an oily residue on the bell housing, not that dry clutch dust you'd expect.

one major thing...
the oil from a leaking RMS will drip onto the back of the flywheel (motor side) and then get spun outward into the bellhousing.. you should see signs of oil on the flywheel thru the inspection plate... especially if its dripping down right to the inspection area.

maybe after sitting for a few days it would be more visible?
or after driving, l I dunno if it leaks more under pressure (motor running, flywheel spinning) or if it also leaks just sitting there not running.

you could put something absorbent thru the inspection plate there... to see if oil is spun out to the bellhousing, but you wouldnt want anything to get snagged up and thrown around by the gears on the flywheel if the motors running.
