tranny leaking, jbweld still not working
alright i just put my motor together and its running fine, but after i put in the 2 and 1/4 bottle of honda manual transmission fluid in the tranny i noticed later that there were a little drip forming at the end of the back of the tranny where it meets the flywheel cover. Drips form at that sharp edge of the tranny parrallel to the shift linkage. So over a week a little puddle of fluid piled on my garage floor the size of 2 cd disc's. I went under to check where the leak is coming from. I felt the dry area on top and down to the wet area. After cleaning the wet parts off with a dry towel, I kinda felt around where to get an idea of where it may be seaping from. It looks like the leak is coming from where the casing closes over the gears. I remember only loosening the casing and was going to check the gears, but decided not to after trying to loosen a few bolts i just retighten the bolts. So infact I didnt even take off the case. But back to figuring out the leak, i saw a really small chip the size of a half a tip of a small flat head screw driver right where the line is where the case bolts up to the tranny. It wasn't a crack, just a chip so i didnt understand how fluid can leak since it was just on the outter part. So I starred and after a few minutes did see fluid start to build there. I whipped it clean again and put some jbweld on that spot and about 2inches up and down the line where the case bolts to the tranny.
I let it dry, came back 5hrs later and there's still fluid mounting outside of the jbweld. Now i'm confused.... I whipe it clean again, let the jbweld sit for the night, came back to check the next day and there's still drips forming at that tip of the bottom of the tranny. Not so much, it doesn't drip but it forms a big drip and then once every hour or so it'll drip. So i'm pretty much dumbfounded, i tried tracing the leak, whipped all areas of my tranny, axles they're all dry n clean but this area keeps building. checked all my oil lines, block, pvc etc they're all fine no leaks.
So should i just take my car to a shop and have them drop my tranny? since i'm just soooo tired of fixing this car for the past 7 months now
?

It sounds to me like someone tried to pry the case apart with a screw driver after loosening the bolts. That person probably didnt know about the slip ring in the top of the case that they needed to expand to release the main shaft and split the case, or they knew about it but was not able to release the shaft (It can be a pain in the *** sometimes).
Unfortunately, the best way to fix this is to take the case apart and totally re-seal it. It is a pain in the butt to get the tranny out, but once done correctly, it will be many a year before it starts to leak again. You will need a set of slip-ring pliars in order to split the case.
Just be sure to use the gray looking import gasket maker stuff (Cant remember the name but know it when I see it, or some Honda brand RTV)
When you had loosened the bolts, you may have broken the sealant just enough to cause the leak. When I take these tranny's apart, I loosen the bolts, then slip a feeler guage in between the case halves and work it all the way around the case to break the sealant apart. Then I use the slip ring pliars to release the main shaft bearing from the case, and hold my mouth just right and the case will pop right off. Sometimes it takes a few attempts and the holding of the mouth in the proper position is critical. Either
or perhaps even
is needed for the halves to split away successfully. But dont worry if you have
or even
until it comes apart, because later when you have no leaks you will have
Enjoy!

yes i did take the tranny case off to put some new hondabond on. it was a good thing i took off the casing too because i noticed my countershaft bearing (the bearing the snap ring sits in) was cracked. so i just ordered a new bearing and snap ring from acuraoemparts and still waiting for the parts to arrive so i can put my tranny back together. we'll see how it goes.
