misfire code

misfire code
97 accord the check engine light has come on twice, I took it to the local garage
plugged the scanner in and it came up misfire cyl 1.
The car has been and still seems to work fine, what can cause this code ?

Problems with the secondary side of the ignition, injector, compression. Among others.
