Default Going to the track this Friday (3-17-06)

Okay I am going to the track for the first time ever this coming Friday night and was looking for some tips from the vets on anything you can tell me. All we have to run is 1/8 but it is better than nothing. I have a 00 GS-R the mods are as follows:
Stage 2 clutch
Skunk 2 IM, Cam gears, Valve train
CAI
DC header 4-2-1 with 2.5 all the way back with a twin loop.
P30 with S100
Omni power suspension (everything)
Yokohama ES 100's

I think that is it. I am going to be practicing on launching this week and getting a feel for the car and clutch. Anything else I should have mentioned just let me know, thanks for any help.

when launching, better to rev it too high and spin then to rev it too low and bog...start high and work your way down

when you stage...if you light the first light let the other race light up the other one first...

when you stage, stage holding the ebrake so you preload the suspension, that puts less stress on it when you launch...

and i bet around 3-3.5k is the optimal launch on those tires...thats what i launch at with my bfgs

He means to hold in the e-brake so u dont move and then let the clutch out just enough that u can feel it starting to touch the flywheel. This cuts down on the shock to the transmission etc.

Alot of people with slicks do it but it wont hurt on street tires either. U gotta release the e-brake as u fully engage the clutch.

Your going to have a hard time no matter what. They scraped that track over the winter so there's no rubber on it now. It'll be a few weeks probably before it would be good.

Okay thanks, I will have to try that and see how it works.

They scrape the tracks to keep the rubber from getting too thick, and also to remove the old rubber. Most tracks do it. At least this way you know your times will get better each time you go.
