here's the story
Ok, here’s how the past 90 days have been.
my old 93 accord got into accident. Insurance company paid me out. I was shopping for a civic and found a blue 1995 civic lx send 5spd with 160k on it. I drove it and like it. But they wanted $2800 for it. I passed and keep looking at other cars. About 1 month later (2 days after Christmas) the owner of that car calls to inform me:
"are you that aisan guy that came to look at the car?
YEAH....
well the car is still for sale but my daughter drove it up to UMD (univeristy of Duluth) and on the way back down for the holidays the motor blew.
WHAT”S WRONG WITH THE CAR?....
well I know it's no good cause there’s a big hole in the block, so if we can't get $500 to pay for the towing and junk yard fees we're signing over the title to them. Let me know if you want it.
I was all over that. Picked it up with no questions.
The car is a 1995 civic LX sedan 5 spd. Harvard blue, with gray cloth interior with no rips or tears in seats. It comes with air bags SRS, p windows, p locks, p steering, ac, p mirror, cc, all the good stuff of an EX sedan minus (sunroof, abs). The car is very good condition for a 10yr old car. Only small rust spots on 2 rear fender walls (usual for all eg) both sides have equal amount of rust… it’s about 1x1.25” in diameter but has not rusted through yet. All glass is good. There is small dent on the rear passenger side right by the tail light… paint-less dent removal should be able to do it for $150ish. Stock shock and spring all good. Comes with 14” steelies with tires that have about 30% thread life left. 2 of the steelies are universal 4 lug pattern. The other 2 steelies are OEM Honda. Comes with 14” gray Honda 21 spoke hub caps. All lights and power options work.
I was looking for a stock motor and couldn't find a local one. So I called a few of the local honda-tech guys and Rick aka 93B18civic https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1441666
had just picked up a mint 95 vx hatch and swapped in his d16z6. So he had a MINT d15z1 complete swap left over.
I got motor, tranny, ecu, complete wiring harness & 5wire o2, egr, for $50. It only had 120k on it.
The motor was clean as heck just like how his EG hb was. I think the car was from down south. The motor & tranny hand no oil or rust on anything.....just very light white oxidation from sitting outside for 2 months.
I just bought OEM part not more than 30days ago:
water pump, tensioner with spring, exhaust manifold gasket, valve cover gasket, 2 axel seals, distributor o-ring, vx cable stay bracket, vx throttle cable. VX throttle stay bracket, VX throttle cable
NAPA timing belt, thermostat & gasket, ac belt, oil filter, alternator belt, ps belt, air filter
GM syncomesh & mobile 5-30
K&N drop in filter
The car had a rusty exhaust so I purchased a used OEM midpipe off 97 civic (2") and Delsole axle back muffler in mint condition 2.2". I also took out the clutch to inspect it, it was mint Napa replacement but I had my old Exedy/dankin full disk/sprung clutch kit so I put that one in.
I have these parts not installed for the car that you can have for it if you want
4 HX Honda rims 14” with center caps still OEM color, mint condition with decent tires.
GSR front sway bar 24mm with all bolts
GSR front top strut tower bar
GSR shifter
Sony 10 CD changer with controller (fucntion with OEM deck)
Viper alarm 450 series with auto start, keyless entry
2 new tires (less than 1,000) miles was on rear of my old accord. 14” Bridgestone Potenza RE92 175/65/14
d16z6 valve cover that says “V-tec”
The reason why I bought this car was that I needed a car to get me EXCELLENT gas milage cause of my career I do tons of driving especially to the WI cities. I drive about 2500 miles on the average month. I picked up the vx swap cause it gets 40mpg city and 55mpg hwy with the use of vtec-e. I bought all those other parts just because they were good deals and/or I wanted to car to ride better with firmer handling. If I wanted power I have my extra 98 gsr complete swap that I could of thrown in there with a few mounts and shift linkage. Not to mention I already have my ef hb si gsr obd1 converted, hasport hydro kit, apexi turbo kit, tein ss, ww kit, presision fmic. But my wife would have been pissed if I modded 2 cars. Cause this car is suppose to be for her too but she doesn’t like 5spd and learning is hard for her. So if you do search I;ve been trying to find a vx cluster that comes with a shift light and tach for her…
Ok as for price. My total cost for the swap and car so far with mis parts ALREADY installed in the car is about $500+50+(200 on oem, napa parts)+$100 on oem midpipe and delsol muffler…= $850
So for my work on the car I’d want to sell it for $1,800 with none of the “uninstalled parts”
For the bunch of other parts I’d sell it with the car as $2,500
Let me know if you’re interested. To be honest if I did sell it for $1,800 I would make some money & would be worth it for all my time I spend on it. Not to mention gas, and propane gas I’ve gone through while working in the garage hehe.
If I don’t get $1,800 for it I’ll just keep it cause I know it’ll last me at least another 75,000 miles/2yrs or so. Know what I mean.
