Default 97 civic sedan appearance build ish

I bought this car a yr ago and it was completely stock civic which is rare now a days, anyway I got it to drive as a beater, decided that I can't be driving a monster truck in the shape of a civic so I had to lower it a bit to try and make it look better in my eyes, I was right it did lol, then I caught the mid pipe on a speed bump and ripped the exhaust off (I know stupid me lol). I got bored with the car after the a/c compressor caught fire, parked it and this guy came up to me asking if I wanted to sell it, caught me on a good day cuz I sold it. 3 months later I ran into him he asked if I wanted to buy it back, of course I did lol I missed the car, sold it to me for 200$ with a blown engine. Now I want to tinker with it pretty much so I can tell the wife I have manwork to do in the garage lol.

Plans are to put another d16 in her
Fix the rust throughout the car
Make it a super clean civic again
All in all it just depends on how I feel that day to decide what I'm gonna do with the car. At least I have a baseline of ideas lol

Old pic of the car when I owned it the first time. Not a great pic but it's my only one I saved lol

From the engine when I bought it back

The pic of the parts was supposed to have a text under it but things went crazy and didn't work just supposed to say my parts bench.

I did get an engine.
I bought a d16y8 complete with a wiring harness and it came out of the same yr as mine.

I know they are crappy photos but it's pretty tight in my garage right now with an engine block laying on the floor. I plan to clean this engine very well so I will go with my super clean engine bay.

I'm going to keep an eye on the progress. I bought a 99 TX sedan. It's very clean with only by a college professor since new. I'm trying to figure out what Heather would be decent for my single overhead cam motor. I don't think I'm going to do a swap I just wanted a little bit more mid-range. If I could get 120 at the wheels I would be happy. I'm not a stop light racer I just want to have a good back road Cruiser and autocross car

So haven't had a whOle lot of time to tinker with the car but I decided I'm gonna repaint the bay, i did a little of the bay seen how good it looked and decided to paint the whole thing lol. Plus I wanted to see how a painted valve cover would look in person so I painted that too. I only get to spend a few min here and there with grown up stuff to do. But here's some pics

Wd-40 sure does the trick, very impressed

Forgot to take a before picture but oh well

Haven't been on in awhile but I finally installed the motor. The motor doesn't want to butt up to the trans, I ran out of time will add more pics once I find what's holding it back from mating with the trans. Assuming it's not splined up correctly.

Nice! How many miles on it before it blew? I got me a 97 DX Coupe with 336K on the clock and it is still going. I have done some easy things to it and trying to chase down a vibration at 65+ which is kind of a pain. It's not like a vibrating so bad I need to pull off the freeway, but just annoying. I'm pretty sure I need to swap out the shocks and struts and new upper ball joints or upper arm assemblies instead. Kind of funny to me seeing all these green Civic's that are being saved.

Finally got the engine and trans flush! After cuts, bruises, tears and beers. I found the issue. It was a damn dowl pin!! I didn't notice it since this is a different motor but there was a dowl pin in the trans and one in the motor going to the same spot. If it wasn't for me dropping my flash light on accident that just so happened to shine right on the spot I prolly would of never found it

finally got an ecu for the car but I'm using a auto wiring harness that came with it so I'm trying to figure out if i still have to change iacv wires, park safety switch all that garbage. It's been slow progress, hoping to have it fired up in a few weeks.

I finally got the engine harness wiring straightened out. Put the battery in to see if all was good and would start and lost all power once I tried to crank it, ended up figuring out that it was my ground wire coming from the battery. So for all who might run across this issue make sure you check that damn ground lol. Anyway it fired right up with no problems aside from the check engine light, I know one is the O2 sensor since I did start and run it with an open header, I also got my flea bay exhaust and it was a hell of a lot cheaper than buying factory piping. Will post up pics soon

Well ran into another problem, the car will not go into gear while it is running, checked and the slave cylinder is pushing the fork but will not fully disengage, its becoming a real headache, also the car idles at 2k then drops to normal then back up to 2k, hopefully I can figure that out soon lol

Decided to have a little bit of fun while I was cleaning out the inside. I removed the CD player and left an old harness hanging out in there

I reinstalled it where the tape deck was and since my cup holder lid doesn't stay shut I figured it's the perfect hiding spot, they will think this dude has already been jacked lol
