I read this about EGR systems on Accords having problems. But it's for the 6th gen (98), not the 5th gen (97). I would think it is the same problem though. Link below about Accord EGR passages.

It also says the V6 engine only. But it still may be the passages that are clogged.

i got an accord with this code the other day.. first i took off the egr valve and cleaned out the two passages.. still got the code, replaced the egr valve still got the code.. so then i went by the book and checked vacuum at all the hoses..it lead me to this solenoid at the driver side of the engine bay..if you follow the vacuum hose youll see what im talkin bout.. i changed the one with the electrical connector on it and the code went away.. somethin to do with the ecu reading the voltage coming out of that solenoid..when its stuck closed the egr valve gets no vacuum to open.. so i would say follow the same procedure..

I had the same CEL as well, but by unclogging the ports I fixed it.
Do a search, I started a thread about this and it included the link I used as a guide to clean out the ports and there is another thread as well dealing w/this exact problem.

It's not a very hard thing to do.

And for the guy who was throwin this CEL and unclogging the ports didnt help.. Did you reset the ECU?

If your car hs under 150K miles it is still under warranty. swing by your dealer and they will fix it free.
