f22 Cam question
i have a 97 accord cd7 sohc vtec, was planning on getting a delta 272 camshaft, but was wondering if i would need to upgrade the head such as valves, retainers and springs and if just the camshaft itself will damage the stock head?
Without seeing the cam lift specs as opposed to stock values, I'm going to make several suggestions.
If the Replacement Cam has longer timing events, but the same lift; you can get away with a stock head set-up.
If the Replacement Cam has an Increased lift; at the minimum you'll need the associated springs (Heavier wire, less coils) due to the OEM springs coil binding from the added lift.
In addition, if you want to gaain some additional RPM potential from the valve train you can go with Titanium Spring retainers and steel split keepers. (you'll be reducing the mass of the value.

ah, so the delta 272 will go into a F22B2 head? I thought I read something that said differently, I guess that was wrong.
There seem to be a few people over on CB7Tuner that run the 272 cam, even though they are F22A motors they may be of some help with your question.
