Default S2000 or Turbo'd ITR Opinions wanted

I posted this in the S2000 forums, so I thought I'd get some input from ITR owner's as well.

Well,

I'm at a point in my life where I can either buy an 02-03 S2000, or a 2000-2001 Very well done clean, professionally done turbo'd ITR.

I've test drove both an 04 S2000 and an 03 S2000, and I liked the '03 better because of the higher redline.

I know both are very good handling cars, and I would probably do a little bit of Autocrossing this year.

I'd love to own an S2000, but for some reason whenever I drive them they always feel to slow for me.

Well anyway, let me know what y'all think.

I'm looking at Nishants S2000 (suzuka blue) or a Black 2000 ITR Turbo (280whp) that has A/C and powersteering, both in immaculate condition and both very clean.

Exactly. Both of those cars serve different purposes and have different audiences.

I would get the S2K over the Turbo ITR, but that's because I love the feel of balanced RWD cars and would enjoy owning a vert where I live.

Another thing I forgot to mention is that I'm 5'10" 240 lbs, so I'm not big, but I'm not small either. I've had some difficulty getting in/out of the S2000 when I test drove one yesterday.

Man, I'd love to own 280 whp car tho, but I'm starting to lean torwards S2000. Well, I'll decide after Nishant gets me those pics.

biggest drawback of the S2K is limited space. biggest drawback of the ITR is theft.

they both handle and drive great, in their own ways.

I agree again.

However, he has an 06 Si (or access to one anyways), so his situation is like mine, space doesn't matter (as long as he can physically fit in the car obviously).

I would drive an AP1, the AP2's seem to have more shoulder room which may be important for you.

If you are not comfortable in the S2000, don't buy one. You'll just end up hating it and selling it.

Yea well, once I was in it, it was great. The touchiness of the steering I'd have to get used to, but that'll come with time.

My only concern is power, I know I wouldn't need much more power to feel satisfied w/ the S2000.

How does the AP1 vs AP2 compare performance wise (1/4 mile). Or, I should ask Nishant how his lightly modded S2000 does vs a stock AP2.

They are about the same. I've seen a lot of people say the AP2's are generally faster (likely easier to launch with the increased lower end torque) but AP1 owners will swear that they are the same.

just after test driving it, it seems you're a little uncomfortable with the S2K. you said it was a little tight getting in and out... over time i think you'd be ALOT more comfortable with an ITR. think of yourself getting in and out of the car 1000 times in the first year you have it.

big picture? it's not hard to get an ITR with a reliable 285whp with some good tuning, you'll be 10 times more comfortable, and i think you'll have a little more fun driving and racing the most well rounded FF car our fine Earth has ever seen

Yes, very good point
And for the comparison issue, AP2's are a snitch quicker than AP1's stock for stock. That's unbias from a non-S2 owner.... Boosted ITR sounding pretty good though!

Cause I love boost of course!

And I'm still getting all of the original parts w/ the car. Original exhaust, cat, and exhaust mani. So, If I want to, I can go N/A and build the block in the future

I just ripped apart my 01 478WHP ITR last week, am parting it out.. I got my 13gs for the motor set up and ill get about 18-19 for the car with a stock C5 in it....

and I bought a 01 S2k.... Its just a different game,, I have a Zx-6R bike to go fast on which i dont have to worry about anything breaking and ill have my S2k for chilling with the top down on weekends...

I just needed a change and always wanted a pimp drop top!

so S2K here i come!

its the truth, its just peak power is obviously at lower rpm on an AP2
